I have 2 Savage 110 tacticals both in a 6.5 PRC, I really don't want to sell one but instead i want to keep both of them and try to find benefits of having two rifles, in the same caliber. I was origanly going to convert one of them in a 7 SAUM, but I learned that cartridge would perform better in a long action instead of short. So now I'm back to square one. Any help would be need, i appreciate it.

I’m in Canada a btw and this is what they’re charging for a cartridge change, which 1366 USD

Holy smokes. That's not even shouldered, correct?

PVA prefit is the way to go for sure if you can get them to send it up north. The osprey prefits are top tier and PVA will supply the sherman reamers.
I have an American address so I’m gonna go through with them and get it done. Do they do 50% deposit or pay all
Upfront? What do you think of the rock creek? I only ask cuz the Canadian/USD currency exchange is brutal lol

What are the benefits of a 25 sst? i read the handload data and i like what i see lol

Best ballistics you can get out of a mag fed short action with the 135 Bergers - Hornady coming out with a 25 eldm as well. I have 2 6.5 Max's, but they need 3.07 COAL (Tikka or Med or XM action). The SST vs SS is the smaller case with an easier shoulder - SS would be quite overbore and require an even longer barrel to make use of the powpow in 25. SST you can run easy in 25, still have great velocity/ballistics, and brass will last.

I could kiss your right now, thay SS and SST is what I’ve been looking for. Now I gotta find what barrel to go with. I assume I would need a reamer and a blank barrel?
Kinport peak rifles
Straight jackot armory
Stratton customer rifles
preferred barrel blanks

These guys are solid from what i have seen. Follow the Sherman wildcats page on Facebook, if you have it.

I honestly want to go this route instead, what changes would I need to make for the 25 SST, it can’t be much? Since the PRC is already 6.5mm and the .25 SST Is in between? I know I need a new barrel but would that be it? I’m new to this lol

257 eldm??? Hopefully they come out with a heavy 13x and a light 110 for coyotes!

All you need is a barrel. Carbon 6 did one of my 6.5 Max's FYI but Rich Sherman will rent the reamer to any smith you choose for 75 bucks.

I’m trying to find PVA pre fit barrel for the .25 SST and I can’t find that choice anywhere. I see the 7 SS under 7mm but can’t one .25 SST under 25 cal. But I’ll definitely look at carbon 6!

PVA probably doesn't have the reamer, but Rich can send it to them as a rental, or you could buy it if you wanted to keep it and use it again later.

I’ll give him a call, what is your experience with carbon Six?

My 6.5 Max is on a light hunter build, 26" with carbon stock and LHT 4.5-22. I also have a Bartlein in 6.5 Max on a Tikka in a chassis with a G3 on top, in a bit heavier profile cut by Bugholes. They both like the same loads and COAL, and shoot pretty close - the Bartlein is a true 0.25", with lots of groups in the 1's and 2's. The C6 is a true 3/8, with some groups in the 2's and 3's. So, given the difference in weight and scopes, the barrel difference could just be me - although I am comparing close ranges inside 500 yds. I've taken the Bartlein past a mile, but no need to try with the hunter, and unsure if the accuracy would hold up as well at further distances.

It also took 3-4 mos to get my barrel - as quoted when I ordered it.

Here is a control group with Berger 153's, followed by a seating depth test of Badlands 135's...

Where in Canada are you located, KS Arms in Edmonton is worth talking to, check out their website. If they are good enough for the F Class Canada team they should be good to go, and not US exchange.
