What do you think of this rifle

Re: What do you think of this rifle

They are decent rifles . Accuracy is acceptable for the most part (MOA or a little better depending on ammo, shooter, conditions, etc.). The one I fired did NOT like anything over 180gr loads which is surprising given the 1:10 twist barrel which should handle much heavier loads. The 168gr SMK handloads I saw fired (not by me...by my friend who is the owner) were the best-grouping rounds to date put through the rifle were printing groups of 0.80" for 5 rounds at 100yds.

The 40X trigger is a nice touch and is a VAST improvement over the stock Remington triggers.

I am not personally a fan of the B&C stock on the rifle, but that is a matter of personal preference.

The only other thing I can say is that $900 is a great price if that is out the door for a NIB rifle. The sticker on those rifles is around $1400 or so with the street price still around $1200, so you are getting around a $300 price break.

Re: What do you think of this rifle

i have to agree with anchor station i would get the 5r mil spec i have one and its nice.. another thing to remember is that more then likely your going to need a muzzle brake, so that's going to add to the cost because a 300 has a nice thump to it don't let any one tell u any different (lol) but the price seems like a good deal... if u don't like the stock i might trade with u just my 2 cents chaz

Re: What do you think of this rifle

I have a Rem mil5R in 308 and all my long range is in 308 now. Just wondering if it would be worth it. Too bad waited too long and gone now anyway. I know 308 is expensive now and 300 was expensive 3 years ago only can imagine what it is now. I will stick with my 308s until I shoot out a barrel and then probably go with a 260 or 7mm08. Thanks for the advice.

I recently sold a Remmy VLS in 7/08 and it really is a great round. Only problem was not many places down here carried the ammo it liked.
