???

"Who can train at Templar Tactical?
Our training areas and ranges are open to military and law enforcement units only. The only civilian events we offer are weekend precision rifle competitions. For more information about these competitions, contact us."

Re: What happened to Thunder Valley

It would be a damn shame if Thunder Valley became closed to the everyday shooter. I have only shot there three times, but planned on going more this upcoming year (as I have a new rifle being built as I type). I will watch this post topic with great interest.

Re: What happened to Thunder Valley

word on the street it's going to be closed to the public. it's going to be contractor training facility but open to the public for shoots they put on............just what i heard

Talked to someone in the know, sounds like there will still be civilian use of the range on dedicated weekends, sounds like the classes given by Templar are .gov/LEO only, time will tell but it's a pretty reliable source on my end.

Got ya, I quoted the wrong person on that one, I meant to quote someone earlier in the post that said they heard no civilian shooting at all at the range.

roger that....will see. it wouldn't suprise me at all due to the nature of organizations like this and the world in which we live.

Re: What happened to Thunder Valley

Guess there is still Rayners to shoot at next year. I think he's adding a couple more targets so it'll be from 200 to 900 yards and possibly 1000 yards each month starting in Feb.

A few of us were hoping to make it out to a shoot at Thunder Valley but guess that won't be possible now. We haven't tried our pistols past 900 yards yet.

Re: What happened to Thunder Valley

Shooters,

Before this gets to carried away....here are the facts.

And after this explaination there is NO NEED to ask ANYONE whats going here other than TOM SARVER himself.
This is not directed toward any ONE person BUT a few people have began to PISS me off a little with info who knows where they got it from and it's not true.

HERE ARE THE FACTS!

I still own and operate the place and YES we still are in business as TVP.
Templar has not taken over and IF they do we WILL STILL hold cilvian shoots such as 600 & 1000 yard matches. Steel matches will be held also one - two times a month IF they take over.

If Templar takes over YES we train LE and military and THEY will be priority because thats the deal I have with them. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE will I allow civilians not to be able to still come and shoot. Now...through the week...IF they take over that may not be the case. But weekends....when available..no different than now or before...we will have civlian shoots.

And ,as for going where the money is...... My mortgage payment here and cost of operation is more than most people make in a year working over-time every day. SO YES your rite...I am and Im not going to feel quilty for bettering my financial situation for my family and to do something good in return for LE and Mil....IF it happens at all. Give me a break...who wouldn't. This isn't baseball. This is a shooting range trying to keep the doors open people SO YOU CAN HAVE A PLACE TO SHOOT!
It's called EXPANDING. For those who think this way.. where were you for the 60 PLUS matches that were held her this year and you still didn't show up for some excuss or another!

Again, as I said before, this has gotten way out of hand. These are the facts! If you want or need more info CALL ME not Templar Tactical. I will be working for them IF and WHEN this project takes off... one of my jobs is to schedule and to run the civilian shoots. I will take care of everyone like I always have. Nothing will change except WEEKDAY visits to the range. This is being looked at and is possible and tenative dates will be set when available.

I hope this explains the situation here. If you have questions or concerns ask ME...Tom Sarver.

Thanks,
Tom Sarver Owner/operator TVP

Re: What happened to Thunder Valley

Tom,

Truely, no offense intended, just concern. You offer a world class opportunity at minimal cost and within driving distance for those of us in the state. Totally understand your logic and wish you the best.

Curt

Re: What happened to Thunder Valley

Tom, thanks for the update! I am looking forward to getting back out there this upcoming year. Matter of fact, the wife will be back in country, and wants to try her hand at some long distance, low pressure shooting.
I second what Ohiogunut stated, "You offer a world class opportunity at minimal cost and within driving distance for those of us in the state. Totally understand your logic and wish you the best."

Re: What happened to Thunder Valley

Tom

Thanks for clearing the air. And good luck with your venture. Nobody can blame you for bettering your position, especially when the means are at your front door.

I for one (and my daughter for two) thank you for keeping the civilian matches going.

See you in the spring.

Re: What happened to Thunder Valley

Tom,

I just wanted to thank you for everything you have done for the shooting sports. I remember when I first met you at the Medina gun show and saw some of your long range rifles. I could not imagine what it would be like to shoot 1000 yards. At the time my longest ground hog kill was 327 yards. I feel like I made the shot of my life. Thanks to you taking me under your wing and teaching me how to shoot. I made an easy 1115 yard shot on a 6X7 bull elk this year. I followed it up with an antelope kill at 900 yards with a 15 mph cross wind. Both animals dropped where they stood. Today you are introducing me to the newest state of the art technology such as night scopes, night laser range finders, suppressors and Night Force programs on PDAS. I know you have put your heart into this range and I along with many greatly appreciate it. I know it is not easy to run a range and deal with the public it’s impossible to make everyone happy even though you tried your best. Can’t wait to shoot next year keep us posted on the 2010 match schedule.

Re: What happened to Thunder Valley

tom,

you have an amazing facility the likes of that which many only wish they could use. you also have a strong support base here and elsewhere who wish you well in your endeavor. peoples fears that it may or may not be there for use in the future were some what substaniated. thanks for clearing the air and setting the story straight. good luck and hope to see you next year.
