mount and level a scope?
i my scope and rings in place and mounted on my rail and my rail on my rifle. i haven't tightened anything down yet, i've seen people mention torque wrneches etc...
i am basically clueless.
i know i want my reticle to be levelso that my adjustmenst will be more accurate and not charlie foxed.
i've seen alot of "scope leveling systems" that seem to me to leave a lot of room for user error.
in my thinking, a plumb-bob with visible line would be sufficient to line up my vertical reticle and then just make sure that the rifle is level during this process.
I've also considered using a laser level...
I'm basically just looking for wisdom from those who have done this before. i want my set up to work as well as possible right off the bat. i'm going to have enough of my own issues to overcome.
i don't think it matters, but, i'm using a remington 700 tactical with a leupold mark 4 3.5-10x40m1 with the leupold tactical mounting system. desired application is hunting/long range shooting.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Sincerely-
