What level of Binos do you need for PRS 22.

Let me start off by saying, I do not believe spotters should be using Binos in PRS22 for 300 yard targets.. I have seen to many missed calls. I speak up so they get the points but it happens more than it should. i guess a case should be made that we dont shoot over 250. I dont mind the long shots as long as we have what it takes to make the right calls for shooters.

That all being said, I do use a spotter. I would though like to step up my Bino's. Mainly for trying to read wind a little better. I fail at the wind. I look for mirage, look at the grass, tree limbs, put all that is some mental formula that I think i have, start there for a wind call and work from there. I do wonder if I stepped up Bino's so I can see a bigger picture, better glass to see things I cant see now (cheap Vortexs that seem good for the money) would it be worth the upgrade? and how far do i need to upgrade? All the way to the Pures? Or will the Zeiss Conquest be far enough? I don't mind by once cry once, but I would prefer to hit the area where I bump diminishing returns on the money. Maybe the Bushnell Match PRO's are enough..

I hunt in the East so I cant make the case for the Pures for Hunting, It really would just be for PRS22..some day maybe for Centerfire..

I wanted to ask for some Opinions before I drop the NL Pure Nuke on my fun money bank account.

I use a pair of 15x56’s when RO-ing. It helps, as you say with 300 and out targets, especially when hit dead center. I’ve used spotters and prefer binos.

I’m fine with stretching rimfire out to 300+, but IMO it’s better when the targets are equipped with hit indicators on anything beyond 250.

I use the Vortex Razor UHD 18x56 binos for spotting without issue

Those are in the Pure price range IMO.

I have the lower power UHDs, and what I'll agree on is that ultra clarity helps, but it's more an issue of magnification than clairity. The .22 dink on even a freshly painted target is damn small @ 300 yds. You can hear it, but not with three or four other squads firing away.

I bring my 80mm spotter and can "see" hits.

All that said, you really need sensitive flashers and more than one guy spotting to keep it fair.

Hit indicators. Spotting scopes to pan targets 40*+ apart at 100 ish yards? For a quick shooter with his scope at 10X? Binos and hit indicators. MDs who cannot afford a few for the far targets need to adjust their COFs.

I have the Bushnell Match Pro ED 15x56 with the reticle and find them to be a good value and all that I need. If you are military, hard to beat the price.
