What pack for carrying stuff and using as a rest?

What are good features to have in a pack that will be used to carry.....spotting scope, notebooks, wind meter, snacky treats, water, tools, etc for a day in the field? The bag would also serve as a field expedient front rest. Think a day afield deer/antelope hunting, or a match where you are hiking between stages.

Rght now I have a Maxpedition sling style pack that just isn't cutting it. I want a 2 strap bag. I'm new to long range stuff and want to know what I'm not thinking about in terms of using the bag as a rest.

I use the Mystery Ranch 3 Day Assault Pack for matches and hunting and pleased with it. Well built and carries loads well.

I use a VooDoo Praetorian for my stuff and rifle. About $150 apiece, A ton of room and specifically designed for carrying a rifle. I have had mine for about two years and it has held up very well.
