Not my first or ninth Rodeo here, and I'm a rider, not a clown.
This last bedding job I did seemed normal enough.... packed the action and trigger assembly cuts with clay & otherwise prepped the stock and barreled action for bedding.
Applied plenty of mixed Acraglass Gel into the stock, guided the action into the stock blah blah blah. Seemed everyday ordinary.
Except this is the first time in my experience that the curing of the Acraglass created so much heat it was painful to touch the metal of the action with bare fingers. Hmmmm?
I normally let the gel that splooges out between the stock and action get rubbery and then (dull)knife it off.
Long story short, I ended up with CURED Acraglass Gel in the locking recesses of my action as well as in my CHAMBER! And of course I did not put any release agent in the chamber! duh.
Upon further inspection the clay seriously softened from the heat and settled making a void at the top allowing some of gel splooge to flow into the front of the action and chamber where it happily set up overnight.
So how does a sapien remove cured gel from his lug recesses & chamber short of a reamer?
I get the best luck I tell ya. I'm really not wanting to pull the barrel back out of the action.
Any advice?
