I have read from posters that they have heard by the next years Shot Show and by the end of the year 2010. I hope Vortex suprises everyone and have the "fixed" ones sent to the distributers BEFORE the public (we) expect THIS TIME. I think this would be a good P.R. move.

They're here when they're here. Vortex has not released any arrival dates. Could be as late as Feb. Or as early as before the end of the year.

I understand what you are saying but we can almost make the same argument for IOR as well. IMHO if you can afford $1700 the up or down a couple of hundred is not a big deal. But it is hard for me to pay premium for a piece of optic that does not have the proven track record of a NF or USO. I can pick up a NF F1 for around $2k with 10% discount some dealers offer etc. I can't in conscious pay the same price for a vortex.
The only reason Vortex PST comes in the picture is because it offers "similar" features for half the price. But if it was the same price i dont see too many people considering it. A 2.5-10x scope from NF with MOA/MOA setup will cost about $1400 from NF where the PST 2.5-10x will run about $600, or the 6-24x FFP PST will run for around $900 which is more than half the price of a NF or similar. So i would definitely consider one but not a Vortex at $2k.

Fair enough Alpha as everyone is entitled to spend their money where they prefer but owning and using both I actually like the reticle, knobs and power range of the Razor over the F1. You can get the Razor for around $1900 with rings also.

That is great hearing that from someone that owns both. My concern is not really about glass or reticle. My concern is just reliability and "toughness." We know how deadnutz reliable the NF and USO are and you can beat them like a sledgehammer. With the issues that Vortex has had on a few PSTs and some of the Razors although some minor and the fact that they are put together in east asia just doesnt give me the warm fuzzy feeling. Maybe if Lowlight did one of his reviews where he beats the shit out of one and throws it off cliffs and slams it against trees and it holds up maybe i will be more inclined to give them the reliability credit they deserve.

I haven't had an F1, but I like the Razor over the Nightforce. You can't go wrong wither way.

Now that really says something. I caught my son putting a viewfinder wheel into the blu ray the other day. If it can pass the two-year old test, it can pass anything...

The problem with these discussions is that the PST is always put in the same category as NF, etc. "For a few hundred dollars more, you can get blah, blah, blah." Well for a few more hundred dollars, you can get an SB or Premier. Or step up to a Hensoldt. The point is, the PST offers the most features for the money than any other scope out there. In fact, according to them, they probably will be forced to raise the price next year, after they fill the backorders. I have one on order and believe that the wait is worth it. For those in a bigger hurry, there are a few companies out there that possibly have a scope or two in inventory that will fill your needs. However, they will not replace the features per dollar that the PST offers. But if you can't wait...don't. Just put the Vortex hate in check and move on.

Personally, I think if I'm going to pay as much for another 5.5-22x50 I might as well have all matching scopes. If I did jump up I'd probably go to USO. Thanks for the suggestion though, I'll look at that scope before I drop the cash.

Get ahold of Scott at Liberty Optics. The price will be a few hundred less than an F1.

I like the EBR-3 reticle the best as i don't like the centers being open. If you wanted an MOA reticle that's the EBR-1. Pay no attention to the price. Scott will do better.

I think I know what happened here. We did totally redesign the Razor bino's, so my guess is that someone was talking about that and somewhere along the line it was misunderstood as being the riflescope.

Lowlight said that the scope's biggest picture was the sight picture and how past 10x you have to be spot on behind the rifle and that is another thing that concerned me and how unforgiving it was at 20x. My NF at 22x is a joy to shoot.

I think I know what happened here. We did totally redesign the Razor bino's, so my guess is that someone was talking about that and somewhere along the line it was misunderstood as being the riflescope.

I sold that and was going to get a 3-20PMII I didnt want to wait so i snagged a Razor off the classfieds here.
my orignal plan was to shoot the razor until the 3-20's arrive
Now i am not sure if i will be doing that, the more i shoot the razor the more i like it, it has to be my far the best reticle i have owned in the ebr-2
the glass is good, not schmidt but good enough to hit my targets
yes it is a BIG scope and has that big ole elevation turret but it doesnt look to bad on my rifle
yes the eye box is tight, but after i readjusted it 3x to get it mounted right i really dont find it to be that bad
havent done a ton of positional work with it, but the little i have done it works, at 15x i didnt have any issues
to me the razor is a great choice out there for under $2k i wouldnt even look at a NF to compare it to

I must admit that was a little uncalled for. We have always prided our selves on being one the most upfront, honest,and straight forward companies around and while we might keep some of our R&D to ourselves (like any company would) we have certainly not and never will come straight out and lie to the public. Like I said we may keep things to ourselves, but if I come on here and say something like I did, I can promise you that it is the truth.

I've never dealt with a bunch of guys as honest, and as eager to please their customers, as the folks at Vortex. Great folks, easy to talk with, no BS warranty, and one of the few companies that truly listen to the shooting community.

I'm guessing that since Scott is publicly guaranteeing there are no major redesigns happening, then you either misunderstood what was told to you or made it up. If you make a claim or statement on an internet forum, you'd better be ready to back it up with some sort of citation, link, credible reference or quotation. "A Vortex rep" and "anonymous" source don't qualify.
This kind of stuff affects people's livelihoods.
You've been called on the carpet. Now, you can name names and dates or retract the statement. This is how we do it in the adult world.
Quoting a lie or a mistake does not make somebody a liar. Posting unsubstantiated claims, that are then refuted by the manufacturer's rep, means you have lost credibility.
