wheeler torque wrench question

Re: wheeler torque wrench question

I don't have that issue with my Wheeler, although I will avoid Wheeler products in the future after buying some really crappy products from them. Their screwdriver bits are horribly weak, especially the hex bits, and I've had a Torx bit deform on me! They don't hold a candle to Brownell's bits.

Re: wheeler torque wrench question

I've had zero issues with mine. The key is, don't turn, lock, turn, lock. Just pull out and turn all the way up, then lock. Also, when you're done, make sure you turn it all the way back down.

+1,I prefer Brownells bits over Wheeler. They are of quality and strength, but I have never had a problem with my Fat Torque Wrench.

You'll need more than one seekonk.

Re: wheeler torque wrench question

I think he is refering to the preset T handle that is commonly used. There are several adjustable models, but be prepared to pay for them. If you are doing a lot of installs or breaking down it would be worth it.

I keep a seekonk T preset 45inlb for routine stock maint. etc. and the Wheeler adj for most everything else. Haven't had any problems with the wheeler so far, just do like netranger6 said "The key is, don't turn, lock, turn, lock. Just pull out and turn all the way up, then lock. Also, when you're done, make sure you turn it all the way back down."

Re: wheeler torque wrench question

I've been using one of these from HF for about 22-25 years and still no problems.
I bought a Wheeler a couple of years ago and had two of the screwdriver bits shatter on first use. I called Midway to get Wheeler's number and they wouldn't give it, turns out they own Wheeler. I sent it back (to Midway) for credit.

that is what I am doing pull down and turn all the way
but has I said it jam's just before 50 pound
and getting there take a lot of effort
I have a wrench type from mastercraft and it is smooth
all the way but way to big to bring everywhere

Re: wheeler torque wrench question

Has anyone tried the adjustable torque handle from brownells i was looking for one it sounds like wheeler is out.

Re: wheeler torque wrench question

I haven't had a problem out of mine either but I've heard a lot of bad stories. Sounds like very poor QC getting a good one is luck of the draw.
