I'm having some parts on gun cerekoted. So question is how many people taint the bolt at their action or do you just paint the barrel? Also when paint the action do you have the scope base painted as well or not.

I've had everything painted on a bolt gun numerous times. The bolt isn't painted about .5 inch back from the lugs, while the rest of the body is. Eventually you will put surface wear lines into it regardless of the finish from cycling the bolt.

Not sure what it does to 'taint' it but if you're worried about something like that I don't know what to tell you. Unless you get someone that royally fucks up and lacquers the bolt and boltface it won't do anything that degrades accuracy or function.

To me it looks better when the action and the barrel are both coated. For my first rifle that was coated in a tactical grey duracoat, I did not do the scope base. I have another rifle in the works and I am trying to decide whether to cerakote the base to match the barreled action, or leave it black. The barreled action is going to be Patriot Brown cerakote.
