Want a match chamber, threaded barrel, adjustable stock. I dislike how all the Threaded barrels cz offers are 16” or 24”.
Only thing that comes close is the Varmint precision chassis MTR. They’re $1200 bucks I thought I’d spend

I’ve handled a few B-14R’s and a few CZ’s I liked the action on the CZ better…
IMO Bergara's real compatibility with the R700 aftermarket is more important than subjective differences in the actions.
That's never a good trait. Decisiveness matters.
I only take 2 months to make a decision when it’s a want, and I know I have the time. There’s no need for me to rush the process, it’s half the fun. Will I eventually own a bergara, a cz and a vudoo? Yeah I will. Is it really that big of a deal what rimfire I buy? Nope. It’s just how my brain works, when I know I have all the time in the world.
The bottom end cz option I’d use just the receiver and get a new barrel and stock. I’d get something threaded so I can run my Mask on it for sure.
I think you'll quickly find the ARCA to be really useful if you get into it. I took the expensive route and went with Pic rails first (this was before ARCA was so popular, but it wasn't exactly rare either), then switched to ARCA later. The ability to slide the bipod/tripod connection point around as needed is incredibly useful, and it provides a nice flat surface for bench shooting as well if you get into that.
I had the same idea, and from your post down belo, wanted to end up with pretty close to the same build. I couldn’t find on. I think in the end I’m going to just get the Pro Varmint model and use it like that until I get all the parts I wanted. My thinking is that the Pro Varmint stock would be the easiest one to sell and I could keep the barrel to use just to shoot regular 22 ammunition.
I ended up with a used mtr that is in pristine condition. I could probably sell the stock and barrel and be into the receiver for ~$200 bucks, I’m gonna shoot it as soon as my Murphy precision rail gets in and see what she’s all about, then I’ll go from there
Doesn’t solve the trigger problem. The CZ457 Is an OK trigger, but I can’t get the weight under 3 pounds. Then there’s the barrel. Now that I’m playing with tuners, I might try a stock barrel before going with a Drop in, but probably would go with a Lilja.
I would be interested in wood stock if wood is decent. I have a .22 WMR build in a wood stock in mind, already have a CZ American with .22LR and .17HMR barrel, both shoot great. I have bought a Lilja .22WMR barrel and want to inlet a wood stock just for the Lilja which is a heavier contour.
Ended up with a super clean used MTR. If I end up selling the stock I’ll let you know
If you can't find one local, Gunbroker, and like online vendors usually have some base level 457's posted. With a little judicious shopping, you should be able to get a basic synthetic American 457 delivered to you for $450 or so. ( $550 for a pro varmint model) Once you sell off the stock and barrel, you'll be in the $300 +/- range for your action. That's what I did anyway.
Yep, I get that. I gave three local shops a chance to order me one. None could find ANY CZ 457 at their distributors in the month I had them looking. I finally gave in and found my own at a small shop across country and paid one of the locals the $25 transfer. All said and done, I'm into the action for $260. I also bought 3 bricks of Wolf MT in another local shop to help spread the love. Hope you find one soon.
I don't know where in Colorado you are, but Scheel's in Colorado Springs had a few 457s in stock about a week ago. No idea of price.
All else aside, a higher grade walnut stock will likely bring you better resale price should you chose to flip it. That said, my problem is that I tend to keep my walnut CZ rifles unmolested. They can collect fast!
