I have a Savage action and Criterion barrel in 308 that I used to do some F Comp with just sitting in my safe. Thinking about having it cut down and threaded for my suppressor to use for some coyote hunting. I already ordered an XLR during their Black Friday sale.

Where would you send a barrel to be cut and threaded if you don't have anyone local to do the job?

I just sent a barreled action to LRIto be threaded, it’s been a pretty quick process. They got it on 11/19 and it should be back on Monday. Not too bad considering thanksgiving was right in the middle.

In addition to LRI and others on the site, I've also used Jim Pixley (JP grips) for a lot of stuff. Quality work, quick turn around, and reasonably priced. Plus he works on a lot of oddball stuff too.

ANY competent "gunsmith" (not an AR-15 "builder") ought to be able to cut, thread, and recrown a barrel. This is very simple machining.

These guys are probably local to you. I would check locally before I sent to off.

cut down and threading is Gunsmithing 101....i find it hard to believe there is not a gunsmith within driving distance who can do the job for you.
