I'm looking to build multi upper AR and am wondering if there is a particular manufacture lower i should consider. As of now the only two uppers I am going to be swaping are a 10" .223 carbine and the RRA .458 socom.

I am considering the Daniel Defense lower or should I go with Rock River since I am getting the socom?

Any insight is appreciated

Re: Which AR-15 lower?

A lot of lowers are the same. I've built rifles using Bushmaster and Stag lowers without issue. Picked up a new one off Gunbroker for $78 shipped so we'll see how that one turns out.

The only issue I've ever run into is the trigger and hammer holes being a bit too wide so I had to use anti-walk pins. No biggy there.

Re: Which AR-15 lower?

After over 100k rounds fired in various venues, all I'll tell you is that remember that the lower is a a non-stress part. So...unless there's some specific doo-hickey that you want on it (i.e. enlarged/modified magwell, e.g.) then it just comes down to what animal/logo you want on the side for Gucci-ness. As long as the holes line up and are where they're supposed to be, that's all that matters.

Save the money you would have spent on some super secrete squirrel Soldier of Boredom awesomeness for a better barrel and/or more ammo. Good lowers are available for well under $100 and you're not compromising a thing. There's only like 3-4 machine shops that machine ALL of the lowers in the country and with an order of like 100-200, and the appropriate paperwork, you can have your own AR lower company. Heck...if you're halfway mechanically oriented, you can buy an 80% lower and then do all the finish machining yourself...and they're all...the same!
