I am looking to buy a bipod for mostly longrange hunting and some longrange target shooting, I have a mcmillan rem hunter edge stock with 1 sling stud in the front.
I want to be able to remouve the bipod easily as I might also be on a stand or in a blind, I also want to be able to set up fast and on some uneven ground. Which one and which model do you guys suggest?
Thx
Elmer

Re: Which bipod versa or harris?

I have both and while the Versapod is OK (the quick detach is nice though). The problem I have with it is that it hinges below the bore so much that it makes the rifle top heavy if your not holding it and leaving it stand by it's self. I mostly use it on 270 so the barrel isn't all that heavy. If your behind it shooting it's nice, locks up solidly when you lean in to it yet it lets you track your target when needed.

I would recommend the Harris over it though.

Re: Which bipod versa or harris?

i have a harris 6-9 br-s with notched legs and i like it for shooting off elevated areas or low cut grass or concrete or something i would maybe get a little taller one if i was primarily shooting in exesivly high grass to maybe get a little above the mass of it but ive never used a versapod i will say they look nive and the qd part would be nice but i hear more good about the harris so i would say get that i have one and i cant complain about it one bit

oh man.................

you know of course......there is really no perfect shooting position when you are offered a shot,....say in the brush and tall broom weed, and maybe from a hill-top perch sans blind.......or maybe a slope next to the cedar........so one really needs at least what is mentioned above in a harris.....and then one of the tall ones that extend to 25" or so......that on goes in the backpack for them chases though the countryside stalking mui grande
