Which bolt action .22 to go with

I have two 10/22s that are completely build, but I want a new bolt action for bench shooting to give me more training for my bigger centerfire bolt guns. My question is which do I go with. Ill be shooting mainly .25 and .50 yd benchrest with a 8-32 scope. I guess occasionally I will use it for other tasks. I have been looking at cz varmint's 452 and 455. As well as the savage line, like the fvsr and tr. What all aftermarket will need to be done to them to get the trigger feeling like a KIDD around 1.25 pull.

Any suggestions and comments would be great

None of the options you listed are readily convertible to anything resembling a Kidd trigger, IMO.

Let me rephrase is. Under 2 1/2 lb trigger

You can tune up a CZ trigger to less than 3lbs.

I have a CZ455 Varmint and a Tacticool. With SK Standard Plus they will shoot under a 1/2" at 50 yards.

CZ 455 or an Anschutz MPR. Buy 455 cheap and spend a lot of money, or buy Anschutz MPR and be done. Best of luck. BTW, I have both, and love them both for different reasons.

RifleBasix makes a replacement trigger for the Savage rifles, and there is also the Apachee trigger tuning kit available for them.

Porter, have you thought about trying the PWS T3 action with a kidd trigger group? I have not tried that particular combo yet, but we'll be wringing the accuracy out this summer to see what the PWS stuff is capable of in benchrest. We have an intro sale on PWS stuff right now. From what I've seen, these actions are certainly capable of producing some outstanding groups. Every bit as accurate as the CZ's and sako quad's out of the box.

The PWS T3 is a bolt action. Just wanted to be sure you knew that. Had a guy at the gun show this weekend that thought they were semi-auto as well.

I've got a Savage FV-SR that I put into a Rhineland Arms Leopard Savage MKII stock. Everything else is factory and I must say I honestly don't believe you can get a better factory rifle for the money. I don't recall exactly what the trigger pull is on it but it suits me quite well. I have a few other 22's including a Kidd build that I did and while the trigger isn't as nice as the Kidd it is really good to be factory.
Lots of good reviews on this rifle. As for the stock it feels really good but was kind of a pain in the butt to get it to fit to my liking. Let me see if I can add some pics for you.

I have Savage TRs in .22 and 17HMR, both with Rifle Basix triggers. Like 'em both, for what they are. The .22 will really shoot with match ammo...

My CZ455VPT is one hole at 25 yards, but opens to 0.50 - 0.75" at 50 yards. Still trying to find the best ammo for it.

find an used Anschutz_the older, the better_ if you don't need a repeater, an old 54match could be the real Mc Coy, bedding it in some stock of the shape of your bigger centerfire stocks_ that's my project about a 54 in a K98 stock, for training purpose only_
