I haven't played as much with the 155's, but the 175's are pretty easy to get to shoot well in a 308. Also, any of the 150 and 180 grain bullets in 30-06 and 300WM (and 190 SMK) are not finiky. When you go light or heavy for caliber with the secant ogive (VLD) bullets, that's when they become finiky.

I find the 190 SMK easier to make shoot than the 175.

I like a 168 or 175 skm with varget or 4064.they shoot really good and working a load is easy.my twist is a 1"11 1/4 so heavy bullets is something that I haven't tried yet.but I do want to try a vld berger for hunt'n.will let you know when I try them.

Amaxs will usually shot in every gun. That is usually my go to bullet it won't shoot anything I have tried.

While the 168 and 175 SMKs are generally very easy to load accurately, the 155 Scenar is a far superior bullet at distance (IMHO) and is pretty easy to load accurately in most .308s. If I had a .308 that wouldn't shoot the 155s, I would go the "finicky" route and use the 175 Berger VLDs. Those are the only two bullets I use in .308 anymore.

+1 to the 190's.
I run 43.5 Varget to get 2625 ish... I used to run RL15 but I found Varget more consistent.

I run 43.5 Varget to get 2625 ish... I used to run RL15 but I found Varget more consistent.

Since I adopted a load methodology ( ocw ) finding load/bullet combinations became really easy with most bullets, I bit difficult with VLD setting depth sensitive IMO.
