Never used a cantilever mount before but they seem to be the standard for ARs. Currently looking at the ERATAC, Tier One, and Spuhr. Anyone have any time with them and why I should go with a cantilever over a regular mount?

The cantilever mount attaches to the upper receiver, NOT clamping with the front ring on the rail of the hand guard, since it can potentially move.
So, yes get a cantilever mount.

As noted above, looks like this:

I've had good experience with the Nightforce Ultralite Unimount and also the Badger Unimount. I recently bought a Vortex 1-6 and am using their mount. I've only shot it twice but seems to work fine. All of these are used on an AR platform.

I was looking at the vortex mount earlier since it is a lot cheaper than the ones I mentioned. Good to know it is working fine so far.

I’ve got one of the spuhr cantilever amounts on an M5 and might have barely been able to get away with a standard mount, but didn’t want to deal with possibly running out of real estate before getting eye relief just right for my setup. The cantilever gives you a bit more leeway vs a standard mount. Likely a must on an ar15 upper receiver especially if using buis. I don’t see how anyone could go wrong with a cantilever mount on an ar platform. Plenty of options out there to choose from.

I've been happy with my ADM mounts, although not on your list. Hard to go wrong with Spuhr if you go the change

I used standard rings on my first SPR style rifle, and basically the front ring was all the way forward on the upper receiver and the scope was pushed all the way forward, and it just barely worked. From that point on, I've used cantilever style mounts.

Depends on your needs. If you want to attach accessories then a fancier mount like Reptilia, Badger, Spuhr, Eratac standard, or Tier One among others have provisions for that. If not there are numerous options across fancy and less fancy offerings that will get the job done from Vortex to ADM to Geissele to Eratac Ultralight.

The Vortex Pro (made by Warne) mounts and Precision Extended Cantilever (made by Seekins) mounts are good. I would stay away from the Sport versions. I have all three types. ADM, Geissele, JP, Nightforce, Spuhr, LaRue etc. are all good options as well.

I mean don't get me wrong I like mine a lot. But on OPs AR platform it would be overlapping/contacting the handguard rail, which is why you use a cantilever in the first place, is it not?
maybe. maybe not. depends on the optic.

of the two pics posted in the thread both could likely get away with the minor cantilever of an MBrace (#3 would be close, #6 would be good to go for sure)
