Gunsmithing Which Cerakote/Duracoat color matches S&B tan?

Re: Which Cerakote/Duracoat color matches S&B tan?

Maybe he's wanting to paint a scope? It would be nice if NIC made a C-series RAL 8000 too.

Judging by what I could find through google, Duracoat's "Russian Special Forces Yellow" or "Desert Mirage Lizard" seems like a close match for what they have available.

I believe Lauer Custom Weaponry can create a custom color for you.

I have a paint called Tru-thane that a customer sent to me already custom mixed to match the RAL8000. It's a automotive paint, and it shows when you spray it as it takes hours to cure, and it's shiny as can be.

I had to spray a good heavy flat clear over it to knock the sheen off it.

Even using the automotive products you can add accelerator to it to have it air dry anywhere from 15 to 45 min. or short bake it in under 10. Also you can add a flat'ning agent to any topcoat (single stage to clear) to get the desired effect. Dead flat, egg shell, satin and semi gloss is done by altering the mixing ratio's. If you use a flatening agent in your topcoat it cuts down on mil thickness versus the way you had to do it.

Because a mere human can paint with DuraCoat while it takes a masters degree, tons of equipment and hours of skill to use CeraKote. CeraKote is better, but not for the casual painter. :)

Has anyone come up with a good RAL 8000 recipe for DuraCoat yet?
