Which dedicated 22LR upper do you guys recommend. Main uses would be some 22 long range matches that we have and possibly some extra trigger time for 3 gun type drills. Would prefer something decently accurate but not trying to break the bank. A decent barrel and bolt recommendation wouldn't be out of the question either. Thanks in advance for the help

I just took delivery of a JP-22 complete upper, and it is shooting 1-1.5 MOA with ammo such as Lapua Center-X and RWS Special Match.

I only have 250 rounds through it and I am hoping the groups tighten up....

Fit and finish is very nice - typical JP. Not cheap, though. I believe the base price is $1,200.00 or so. Not sure what you mean by "not trying to break the bank"......

JP's are sweet rifles for sure but a little more than I was looking to spend.

The nordic is about where I was thinking price wise. Seems like they are not selling to end users anymore. Will try to find them from distributors I suppose.

Any other options in this range? I saw 2A offering a barrel kit in this price range have you guys used them?

I've had pretty much all of them (except JP, which is a Nordic BCG with John's barrel) and the the "best" for pure accuracy, has been the CLE, the Nordic was 2nd. BUT that could be barrel specific. The CLE will give you the best barrel on average (and he will fix it if it's not) and you may or may not get a hammer with Nordic, (prob 75% good, 25% OK but still better than all the Ciener's)

Stay away from all the Ciener style conversions (CMMG, TacSol, Spikes, etc) for pure accuracy, good guns can be built on these, but you're not going to just buy one and get a hammer, on average.

The BCG's in the CLE (which is a military unit) and Nordic are also much more reliable and not needed to be tuned and tweaked like a Ciener style to function properly with match type ammo. These two styles of BCG also seem to damage the rounds less as they load into the chamber.

Over the years, I have personally had several CLE, Nordic, DPMS, CMMG, TacSol, Colt, JA Ceiner, Spikes, m261 (and probably a few more I can't remember), just so you know I'm not blowing smoke.

Compass Lake Engineering as in CLE is the most accurate upper I have found. I have tried JP, TacSol, CMMG and Nordic.

The only drawback I have found with the CLE upper is that there is only 10 round mags avail because they use M-261 mag inserts.

I have two CLE uppers, both with Douglas barrels. After spending some time polishing some mating surfaces on the bolt, it runs 99.9% with a can. Without the can and associated crud, they are 100%.

Black dog makes 25 round mags now for the CLE/m261 kits!

Another vote for Compass Lakes Eng. I had one of their 22 uppers when I shot NRA Highpower competitions to use for inexpensive practice. They make a quality product.
