Which neck turner Pumkin or k&m?

Re: Which neck turner Pumkin or k&m?

ed,

Kind of depends on how deep your pockets are and how much hassle you are willing to put up with when change the length of the cut. While I don't own one, my understanding is a new Pumpkin is about the same cost as three of the K&M turners with the carbide mandrel. It's a lot easier to change the length of the cut on the K&M, just loosen the mandrel and slide in or out until correct for the type of case. Easy to reset once you've got a good case, just save one as a guide. You don't have to mess with the depth of cut unless you wish to do so. With a Pumkin, my understanding is you pretty much want to leave it alone once it's set up, which makes it a one case device.

You can use the same K&M "Expand Iron" for all the 7mm cases. This part makes the inside diameter of the neck the same, so it fits the mandrel correctly and high spots are pushed to the outside of the case. I don't know if it can be used with the Pumpkin.

I use the K&M with the carbide mandrel. It's easy to set up and use. The Expand Iron is a must have to size the neck properly to the mandrel. It inside neck reams and outside neck turns at the same time. I chuck my brass in a drill on medium speed and the cuts are very clean and smooth.
