Years ago, I put a square-section, flat-bottom handguard on an AR-15 because I shoot that rifle normally off a rest or bi-pod. However, it has no cooling slots and weighs almost 1.5 pounds. Looking for a replacement, I found these that look as though they would do the trick. However, I am not familiar with the names (except SLR) and would like to check the SH knowledge base to see if any of these brands should be on my short list (or should be tossed into the trash).

Other recommendations are always welcome.

The basic requirements are:

- M-Lok
- an inside diameter of at least 1.35 inches to fit over my SLR gas block
- a length of 13.7 inches to cover the block while letting me access the adjustment screw at the front
- a (relatively) snag-free bottom for shooting off a rest

Thank you,
Richard

The Seekins SP3R is probably your best bet for bag/barricade riding.

I have that Rise HG and I like it but it had some issues and I wouldn't use it on a precision build.

Thats the case with that Rise Armament one. I had to wrap the nut in thim shim stock to get it tight.
Now that's the type of information for which I'm looking. Thank you.

I think I'll go with the SLR, in large part because they have taken such good care of me with their gas blocks. I figure if something isn't right, they'll take care of it immediately.

Cheers,
Richard
