Did you see the episode where they built the mono-core for that platform? They took bar stock and drilled a couple holes in it, called it a suppressor. Their cans are nothing more than fender washers and spacers, they are not even using 1980's technology yet. They did go to Shot show and most of the people got their pictures taken with RJF, not because of their stellar products but more as a "look at these idiots."

Re: Which suppressor for 458 Socom?

Red Creek Tactical has just put together a .458 weapon system with a suppressor. I spent some time on the phone with them after Shot.
While expensive, the platform has some great attributes. It is a modular suppressor system, that does not increase back pressure. It is supposed to be quiet, and have a low flash signature.
The suppressor is not a stand alone for the .458 it is designed to be used with their machined barrel.
Don't know what your budget is, but if this weapon works as described, it would be the berries.
The only other choice I found is the offering from SBR.

Re: Which suppressor for 458 Socom?

Just picked up my SBR SOCOM suppressor from my dealer. The Form 4 filed through a trust took 6 months-same as the last few).

It is long and heavy with really thick aluminum walls and what appear to be welded aluminum Baffles. End caps are available in different thread pitches and the machining and finish look nice.

I ran 3 rounds of 500g SBR ammo through it on a RRA .458 SOCOM for a quick test. It definitely seems hearing safe and in the range of a .300 Blackout round fired through an AAC SDN-6 or Gemtech Sandstorm. (saving my pennies for a sound meter.)

It's snowing now, but I'll throw a scope on it next week and see how it affects POI and accuracy.

Re: Which suppressor for 458 Socom?

Elite Iron will build you a nice one.
Most people are just putting 45 cans on them, but they will still be noisy if you run supper sonics. Elite Iron will build one that works with both.

Re: Which suppressor for 458 Socom?

I know that SAS makes them. Hopefully the final vote in Indiana will be here soon to legalize hunting with them and they will be hard to get for the 458 since its one of the few rifles legal to hunt with here. Check out SAS website, or call mile high for a price.
