Hide,

I have a handful of ARs, but looking for which of my two suppressors to put on a .300 Blackout 8.5 inch. I have a TBAC Magnus I run on my bolt guns, and a Huxwrx Flow 7.62 TI that I run on my ARs. However, I have an 8.5 inch AR pistol with a brace/JP captured buffer and adjustable gas block and I’m not sure what to run. It seems the hux may not perform as well with subsonics, so I’m wondering whether I should throw the Magnus on and adjust the gas down.

I could experiment a bit, but figured I’d come to folks with more experience. Rig has a 1x red dot and would just be mostly plinking and some transition drills.

Thanks in advance.

They are a tool and your choice is kind of determined by the use case. I will preface this by saying I do not like a lot of gas coming back in my face. On an AR platform, I greatly prefer flow through cans at this point. You managed to pick one of the less common calibers that leads to a question. If you are focusing on quiet because you are going to be shooting a lot of subs I would probably pick Magnus. If you are focusing on quiet enough and might fire the rifle rapidly I would go flow through.

The TBAC cans are not friendly on a gas gun. I run one and even with adjustable gas its still kicking gas back. You really want a flow through can. I have a magnus and its rough on my ARs. Shitty little YHM R9 has less gas blow back and is half the volume.

IMO the best bang for your buck is a KGM R30K. They are about half the price of a Hux, which would be the other really good option. Benefit of the KGM is you can adjust ports to manage recoil and muzzle flip. I love this can so much I just bought another one, and will probably buy 3-4 more of them. Perfect on 10.5-11.5 ARS up to 22-24 precision gas guns.

$650 bucks
Less than 5" long
FLow through with adjustable ports
Titanium
HUB
VERY light.
Doesn't have sparking issues that some of the 3d printed cans do

Very helpful input everyone. I already own a Hux 7.62, so this has made my decision, I’ll install that muzzle device. Appreciate the input, knew I came to the right place.

Love the Magnus on my bolt guns, but it's the wrong can for that application. The Hux will be fine with subs, but my go to gas gun can is also a KGM. Can't believe how good it is for the money, they just jacked the prices up a bit but they're still a bargain. Mine is the full-size R30 and it sounds great with Hornady Sub-X on a KAC SR-30. I've gonna grab an R30K or two next time my dealer has them in-stock.

I was in a similar situation (8.0" .300 Blk, choosing between a Huxwrx Flow 7.62 Ti and a TBAC Ultra 7). I couldn't get the Hux to cycle subsonics reliably, even with the gas block wide open. With the TBAC I can set the gas to cycle subs and supers no problem, and end up with not much gas to the face. I'm curious to hear how it works out for ya!
