Which tuner and why??

Unless it has aluminum I don't think any of them are particularly delicate.

The Harrell's AR Tactical Tuner may be one to look at, all stainless construction and a locking collar for the weight ring Vs set screw/friction.

I use one on a T1x and have no complaints. If the Tikka had a non-threaded straight taper barrel I would have chosen their normal rimfire tuner which has a much finer adjustment set up.

Is there a good tuner that works with a timed break? A qd system break more specifically. I wouldn't mind checking out the tuner game but it would have to work with my qd can set up. I just don't want to start over with that rabbit hole of replacing all my qd breaks and all. From what I've seen, the tuners that work with a can rely on a self timed type break to hold the tuner on.

We make them here in Aus, and they work the way you want, I'm positive someone in USA makes one similar.

Ours come in multiple sizes to be compatible with a few barrel profiles, are NOT threaded but just slide over the muzzle thread and you use a self timing brake or muzzle device to lock it down.

Works a treat.

Yeah, there are those kind here as well. I may not have stated the situation clearly, let me try this again...

I have the yhm set up on all of my guns and all my cans use that set up, so I would need a tuner that somehow works with a break that is timed with washers and tightened vs a jamb nut self timing set up. It might just be that isn't possible. As I understand it, the tuner would then need to be threaded on the barrel ahead of the break. As such, there may not be enough thread on the barrel to accommodate both threading on amd being secure. I think this is the issue as to why a tuner threading on ahead of the break wouldn't work.

Well my plan is to turn up a sort of thread protector nut with threads larger than the barrel on the outside. And have an extension with 1/2-28 threads to bolt a brake or compensator or what have you on. So you could still experiment with muzzle devices, whilst the tuner/weight could be adjusted on the outside threads. See my super fancy potato shop (I'm very skilled at digital artwork!), I think this explains it a tiny little bit better;

Should work? Or maybe not? Any input on this "design"? Drawing no to scale... :LOL: I'm open for debate! 'cause the more I read into this stuff the more I want to try it. But everything I can find for sale online is overseas...

I am using an ATS tuner on my 5/8-24 threaded 22" M24 barrel on my RimX. I have beaten it on barricades and everything in-between during a match without an issue. It has stayed set where it needed to be with just 1 screw in it.

How did you find the effect, on such a thick and fairly short barrel?

How does the ATS attach via the existing barrel threads AND us the current muzzle device????

I have a barrel with about 1/2 inch of threads, how can this thread on AND leave enough to screw on thread/crown protector???

It was real simple to see it work. I made one rotation and back around to 20.5. the red mark is what I am basing my numbers off of. That was a quick tune at 50 in my back yard. I used probably 100 rounds to get the tune and fine tune it to where it is setting now. [20.5] it was fine tuned at 100 yards. This was also after the shorter thread protector was installed. It is amazing to see how such a small piece plays with harmonics.

It just threaded onto the factory threads of the barrel and thread protector holds it in place.

I would say you have plenty of threads. I had PVA spin up a shorter thread protector for me and you can see the difference in the pictures.

The ATS works as advertised and can be used in conjunction with either a brake or a suppressor. I have 2 of them that I use on center fire rifles and am going to get a 3rd for the Kidd Supergrade that I just bought from @nakoa01 . Regardless of which tuner you use, the effect can be pretty profound.
