I just want to give Whidden Gunworks a shoutout on their BULLET COMPARATOR for being the most consistent bullet comparator I’ve used. I’ve measured 5 different bullets:
127 Barnes LRX
140 Barnes Match Burner
140 Hornady ELD M
143 Hornady ELD X
147 Hornady ELD M
All these bullets give the same Cartridge Base-to-Ogive measurement. They made the hole diameter so close to, if not at the Ogive diameter, and the readings are just what I always expected a bullet comparator to measure; where the bullet touches the rifling. Not saying anything bad about the RCBS Precision Mic or the Hornady gauge which I own them all, but they both will give you different readings for each different bullet. The RCBS gauge being the worse. If you’ve experienced a better comparator tool please share…
