White Box/Red Box FGMM

Re: White Box/Red Box FGMM

I'm guessing the white box is the old production box? The red is the new? I noticed recently in the past few months when I shot with the local law enforcement that their boxes went from the white to the red when they ordered a new batch of ammo...

Re: White Box/Red Box FGMM

I'm not sure, but I think it is designed for the M14-M1A. I have a case I have not openned yet and on the outside of the case is a number that implies M14. I'll have to go get it and look again. Ok the case is marked A76251M1A, and further says 168GR Open Tip Match American Eagle Rifle Cartridges.
Many years ago I read someplace that the M14-M1A operating rod was not designed to withstand the pressure for rounds heavier that Nato 150GR.. I don't remember where I read that.
Each individual box of 20 rounds that I have is marked "For M1A Use" and has a M1A socom pictured on the front of the box. The back of the box shows a chart with a muzzle vel. of 2650fps. I also believe that the chamber for the M14-M1A is sligtly bigger than 308 winchester because Nato ammo is chambered for machiegun use. Match ammo implies that the chamber is match spec. and not Nato spec..
Anyone else got further info?
Thanks,

I think we are talking about two different boxes. I do believe that the new FGM is red and not labeled American Eagle like what I was talking about above. I had never seen this American Eagle M1A ammo before and it was significantly cheaper than FGM, I think I paid $20.00 per box for a case and that leads me to believe that it is not loaded to match spec.. Probably just used a 168 open tip match projectile into a non match case. Still would like to hear further info.. Thanks

Re: White Box/Red Box FGMM

The American Eagle and the GM308M are two different cartridges.
The newer red, black and gold boxes are just new packaging for the GM308M.
