...it was easier?

I was wondering who all aneeals on a regular basis?

Also, if you think you would if it was easier please post.

I have just got back a prototype of an idea that hopefully makes annealling easier and safer. I have already done qute a few cases and it seems good I just need to tweak the design a little. It is doing exactly what I had envisioned. So far, just to test, I can heat the case mouth to cherry red then touch the case head with a slight boil of spit. If I just heat to the point of discoloring I can touch the case head without getting burned in any way. This is all done without the use of water or coolant.

The tool will be inexpensive and easy to use I just need to do some more testing before I even think about producing any more.

Also, if there is anyone in the Knoxville, TN let me know and maybe we can meet so you can take a look at it.

Thanks

Re: Who anneals? or would if...

I anneal after my cases have been fired 5 times. I use the Hornady anneal kit, but can't stop thinking about how nice it would be to have a Brass-o-matic. I'll be annealing tomorrow, 50 308 cases and 50 338LM cases.

Re: Who anneals? or would if...

My design is more for low production work, probably 2-3 cases per minute depending on what gas you use. Butane is slower but more controlled while MAP gas is faster but if you don't pay attention you can ruin a piece of brass easily.

My biggest concern when annealing is having heat make it to the case head and this is what my tool prevents. It keeps the extreme heat of heating the case mouth from reaching the case head without the use of water or any coolant that needs to be dried off.

I tried some cases using both MAP gas and butane. Normally the butane heated so slowly that the case head would get quite hot. With the tool I made the case head actually stays pretty cool. With MAP gas it is quicker but you have to be more attentive or you will ruin the brass. This tool would be more for the new user but would probably benefit those who have been annealling for a while.

I still need to do a ton of testing as well as get the initial legalities done before I will sell any. It might be a few weeks or maybe a little longer before I post pictures, I just need to finalize a few more things.

Thanks

Whole case=blown case=danger Will Robinson.

If you anneal to the point that you are heating the case down to the head you either have poor flame control (aiming) or you have overheated the neck to oversoft
