Damn, how I wish I was there. But I certainly will be next year, at SHOT that is.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">If James Anthony Bailey and P.T. Barnum had seen the Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show) they just might have conceded their “Greatest Show on Earth” needed more guns, sideshows and characters. Because come one, come all, the SHOT Show has no comparison on Earth and, in fact, is especially interesting this year because gun sales are breaking records.

I shoulder in with the 60,000 people the show has brought to Las Vegas to find out why guns are selling in a mostly down economy. The people around me have come to buy and sell firearms, ammunition, optics, tree stands (devices hunters attach to trees so they can sit and wait for deer to show), deer urine (for attracting those deer), as well as holsters, knives and enough law-enforcement paraphernalia to keep CBS’s show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation filled with cool props for another ten years.

They’ve come from all over America and from more than 100 countries. They are gun dealers, wholesalers, manufacturers and outdoor personalities. They are perhaps our most misunderstood capitalists: the politically incorrect people who buy and sell things that go bang.

They all seem to be having a hell of a time.

Yep, and one that's based specifically on who is in power...

No, don't think so. Firearms sales in the U.S. are driven by a wide cross section of Americans who cherish their 2nd Amendment rights. It is not driven by cheap (mass-produced) money, artificial demand, central planning/govt "intervention" or crony capitalism.

A true reflection of America's mult-faceted mood...

Sadly I believe it is panic driven. There will be those in the industry who will throw gas on that fire too.

On the home front, I would be more concerned about components, rather than actual firearms.

This, and mostly this....despite what the liberal MSM tries to shove down the Sheeple's throats on "news" channels, there is still a LOT of Freedom reverent folks in this country. Trying to say there isn't, to propagandize the ignorant, doesn't make it true, the numbers speak for themselves.

IIRC I heard firearms were the number one Christmas gift this year in Virginia...I didn't get any, but that's beside the point.

Whether or not it's panic buying matters not, 2A is what it is, and the current market for firearms is reflecting it's Power.......

Zombies don't pee; they leak.

I bought two rifles last year; mainly because I finally had the cash.

I see this as the intersection of suppressed demand with rising disposable income. That's how it was for me. Want something long enough; you know where the bucks are going long before they arrive in-hand.

It's like my Wife says; after all this wait, when things improve, what are we waiting for befoer we take advantage? We need to enjoy life <span style="font-style: italic">before</span> age and infirmity makes that too diifficult.

If this is a bubble, I'm gonna grab onto it with both hands. If it pops, it pops; if it doesn't, so much the better.
