After full length re-sizing, do you guys use the "new case" holder or do you use the regular one for trimming. I was under the impression that since you are full length sizing that you should go with the new case holder versus the regular one. I have the new case holder and after sizing the case, it won't not go in far enough to trim. Is the regular holder more wide? Before I re-barreled this gun, it was a .308 and the case would barely stick out the trimmer side, but it was enough to trim. Now the case just won't go in far enough to trim at all.

Any help would be appreciated. I am using the .308 family holder for my new .260. Thanks guys.

Re: Wilson Case Holder/Trimmer

Call Sinclair's and ask them. MOST of the time they can take care of your questions. I know there is a difference in the holders that say fired and new.

You might be able to read the data stamped on the side of it and get the correct information from their online catalog.

Good luck.

Thanks Victor. I actually just got off the phone with Wilson. They are going to send me a once fired case holder at a discounted price. Apparently, some of the benchrest guys really crank down the case for the tight chambers they are using. They seem to think that the once fired case holder should work since they use a slightly larger reamer. Hopefully this will work out.

the once fired .308 case holder? curious because I am building a 260 now and am wondering if my fired case holder for 308 will work. Pretty sure it will, no?

Re: Wilson Case Holder/Trimmer

I have used the Wilson trimmer for some time now. I only buy the fired case holder for any of the calibers and trim all the brass with them. It will work on new brass or sized brass. I have never had a problem and I only have to buy one case holder instead of two!
