Any ever buy upper/lower receiver sets from them. How was the quality. Looks to build a .224 Valkyrie and just want to research and get opinions on the different brand receivers out there and haven’t found a hole lot on Wilson.

I have 2 Wilson Combat AR’s and both shoot very well. I live very close to them and pick my rifles up there and it is a very impressive shop. This is the first group that I shout out of my Wilson Combat 6.5 Creedmoor.

I’m just trying to get people opinions on diffeeent receivers what they liked what they didn’t like. There are so many out there now you can read forever and not hit everything. Just looking for people’s thoughts doesn’t have to be Wilson that was just one I could find a lot on at the time.

what opinions are you looking for specifically? What info? You aren't gonna see any accuracy differences spending $550 on a billet set or $150 on a forged set.

it comes down to picking a receiver set with the features you want. full ambi, not fill ambi, flared mag well, integrated trigger guard, forged or billet. you will get more responses and info if you layout what feature set your looking for

How tight the barrel fits in the upper.
How the upper and lower receiver mate to each other.
Is there an accuratacy difference between forged and billet. (I highly doubt it)
Durability different between billet and forge.
Like it to be it to be ambi.
Mag well and trigger guard don’t matter much to me.
Would like to be able to shoot nice 500yrds to be realistic but the 224 has some numbers that I’m having a hard time believe and would like to test that

Ive done testing with forged vs billet. zero accuracy difference. No strength difference. If you buy top quality kits like MEGA billet or BCM forged you will have tight fitting barrels you will need to thermofit. You will have tight upper to lower fitment. Almost all lowers now come with a tensioning screw to remove any play between the upper/lower so thats pretty much a non issue.

There is no durability difference between the two. The upper and lower isnt going to mean anything for you in how you shoot at 500yds. Thats going to be 100% reliant on the barrel you choose, the smith you choose to chamber it, the ammo you use and you the shooter. The receiver has no bearing on 224V numbers either.

They simply insert into the usual recess site where a tension screw would be installed. The recess is not threaded 1/4-28 tpi, but is easy to do if one prefers to use a nylon screw.

This lower is a Wilson AR9 SBR.

neither. the barrel extension area of the uppers Ive mentioned are undersized and need to be heated up with a heat gun. I then apply 609 or rocksett liberally to the barrel extension, insert the barrel once heated and torque barrel nut. let cure overnight.

undersized uppers will not allow you to push the barrel into the upper without doing this. makes for a rock solid, wobble free barrel to upper fit. you will need to heat up again to remove the barrel in the future.
