I have a Winchester Model 70 308 that was modified to use the box magazines. they are 4 round only and I was wondering since the FNH now makes Model 70 if there was a place I could get larger 10 round magazines?
Re: winchester Model 70 box magazines where can I get?
if you are using fn's factory dbm, they only make the 4 round mag to fit it(I think the newest ones hold 5 rounds).I just converted my winchester with fn dbm myself. You will have to buy one of the aftermarket systems to get 10 rounders. I read in another post that FN is working on a new dbm that will come with 5 and 10 round mags suppose to come out next year.

Saw the prototype of that system last October's ASC. The FNH representatives were shooting with them on their rifles. It looked very good. Waiting for them to release the system to the public.
Re: winchester Model 70 box magazines where can I get?
great info guys the CDI is real nice. Gonna see if I can save the money up for that project. Will have to have my custom stock redone to fit the CDI. How much modification is needed to change from Winchester DBM to the CDI setup with the AI Mags?
Not sure if I will wait til FN comes out with their magazines or not. The idea of having the same mags for model 70 or Rem 700 and sharing magazines with a friend sounds pretty good. However cost vs the FN and the preexisting setup may be the direction I end up going.
Thanks for all the good input. This is my 1st post with SH. I've been with AR15.com and 68forums for many years.
Re: winchester Model 70 box magazines where can I get?
I don't think I'd wait on FN either. I'm not sure if they are just coming out with extended mags or a whole new dbm which case the mags probably will not work with the present dbm that they have been using. We will have to wait and see.

was this the dbm you saw? if so it seems they are already out.Looks like they come on they top of the line spr model. midwayusa list 5 and 10 round mags(back ordered) It is was I figured, they went to the rear release like everyone else which means the mags are not going to work with the older dbm. I looked at the pics and they look just about the same. Just not sure if I would be willing to spend the money on a 10 rounds just to see if I could make it work. But for $50 I just might have too!!
