Wolf Primers

Re: Wolf Primers

LR Wolf primers are bigger they are very hard to seat on newer brass you will need a very good priming tool (K&M, Sinclair, Hornady) I can tell you that the handles on the Lee will not hold up you must get these seated all the way or you will have inginition problems if you can overcome this they are great primers that will more than likely give you better results

Re: Wolf Primers

I just ordered the last 7K Wolf LRM 5 minutes ago @ Widners. I started to order 12K this morning, but you snoze, you lose it seems.

FWIW the PMC/Wolf/Russian work very well for me on everything from 45/70 and 40/65 BPCR, 243, 308, 7mm SAUM, 300 SAUM, and 30-06.

Standard and magnum rifle primers have the same priming mix and amounts. The standard primer has a copper cup and the magnum primer has a brass cup. The magnum primer has a tougher cup. The small magnums were originally recommended for use in .223/556.

Re: Wolf Primers

Well I should have bought up the wolf primers. But I wasn't sure of the differnce. I do have some on order. It hopefully won't be to long. I read the David Tubb article. He basicly said the same thing you did about primer seating.

And Powder Valley is completely cleaned out now, except for 209 Shotshell primers.

Re: Wolf Primers

Yeah that is a great article.

The primers are made at this factory in Russia:
http://www.flame.murom.ru/en/
I emailed the plant in Russia to make sure. I used to have some of the old KVB-7 Russian primers that are on that site, and they told me they are the same as the Wolf. I ordered a brick of 5000 Wolf, and the outer box had all of the address and production info identical to that website... I also got a letter from the plant director saying that they are marketed as Wolf in the US, maybe a bit over the top, but I wanted to make sure they were the same as the old KVB-7 primers.

I found it interesting that they are now producing eco-friendly (no heavy metals) primers. (http://www.flame.murom.ru/en/Htmls/primers_free.htm)

I don't know how you would get any of those. I think Wolf is just the regular kind.

is a similar thread.

Fyi - PV may or may not be reflecting current stock on their website. I ordered some even though they were "out of stock" on the website and they shipped them right out to me, after the processing delay (apx. 2 weeks).
