Used to be a time I didnt read too much into a word.
Words had a generally accepted meaning, and as they were just "words" they were harmless and protected as "speech".
I got notice today Sig Sauer is changing the name of their AR carbine classes.
Formerly "Defensive Rifle" and "Advanced Defensive Rifle" they have changed to "Rifle Operator" and Advanced Rifle Operator" respectively.
Sig is a good company and supporter of the gun sport but why the change?
Whats wrong with being "defensive"? Perhaps the powers that be are saying we dont have the "right" to defend ourselves.
"Defense" in my mind is the only legitimate use of force.
My definition of "Defense" is - 'The application of the offensive use of force, to the most extreme measure capable, in response to an offense committed, or imminently about to be committed, against you, yours, the country, applied until the threat is eliminated.
If anything the new names would indicate a more proactive perhaps "offensive" use of the rifle.
As Sig accepts more DOD money do they become more beholding to government infiltration into their operations?
Im pretty confidant in my gut instinct that the surprise move to a new service pistol......surprise in only that it happened after decades of talking about it.......that it happened during an anti mil administration more interested in giving money for votes rather than gear.........that it happened after buying a bunch of spares for the than in service pistol........that it happened after the than current supplier came out vocally in support of the Second Amendment at a time the administration was mounting a full on attack against the second amendment..........
So yes my head is covered in tin foil.
Sig is the best we got in the NE for easy access training. Id hate to see it ruined, hence my concern that something that should be inconsequential signals a shift in core values.
Is a cigar ever a cigar?
