Great idea thank ya siri use a magnetic tray....magnetic parts holder. I can't recall if i purchased it from Sears or perhaps Harbor Freight. It works quite well. On another small section of my bench i have a piece i salvaged from my better half's old yoga mat. I see those mats all the time at the local thrift shop for very little money.
Cool I got vices for sure thanksA vice. As for work on the bench, a cleaning mat. Horse Stall mats are great if you need that much. Damn near indestructible, and good and heavy. Just a PITA to cut!
Yessir that will, I had something like that on my work table at CST held stuff good thanks broThis should work....Router Mat

Gonna go to the local lumber shed in the am he has all kinda stuff, dont know why I didn't start there. That was just a quick Google taking the first router pad I saw. spend some time looking you may find better quality than amazon has to offer.
Aye I want one of the them!! Lol yessir that's a good idea thank you sirI use cheap carpet mats from Home Depot. It’s been a while since I bought them, but I think a 3 pack was well under $10. The edges are seamed so it’s not like lose carpet. When I first get them, I flip them upside down and make squiggling beads of silicone on the bottom and let dry. This keeps them from sliding all over your bench, but you can still pick them up and shake them out when needed.
I like carpet because it protects measuring tools, limits parts rolling around, you can drive pins into it, and it gives the slightest chance of keeping a spring that gets lose from disappearing off the bench.View attachment 7219051
