Thinking of setting up a work bench in the garage for general gun stuff but eventually would like to do some barrel swaps and reloading. Can you guys recommend any workbenches or is this best to be a DIY project?

Depends what you're gonna use 'em for, but...
I've got a half-dozen HF benches scattered around the shop- mainly because I get some drawers, and a lower shelf as well.
When on sale (often) or with the usual 20% off coupon in hand, they're only around $130. Couldn't build them myself for that...

Those that need to be rock-solid, I've made with solid-core wood commercial doors.

Found mine thru Facebook Marketplace. It's a Cobalt work bench that I got for $100. It retailed for $300 hence why I bought it. I think this is Lowes's brand but it looked to be stainless steel but when I got it 2nd hand there were some surface rust. Also the over head light that came with the work bench sucks- it throws a shadow over the work area cause it sits to far back.
The legs are also flimsy and made from sheet metal. The original owner bent some legs that I had to bend back into place. I would definitely look to find a better quality one the next time around. OR I'd make one
Just my 2 cents worth

Built mine along the wall of my shop in a corner. 2 feet deep and 7 feet long. Used angle welded to the steel columns to hold the 2x10s, welded steel legs on the angle. The 2x10s are bolted down and a Lowe's wooded table top is bolted to that. All finished with a poly urethane. Leftover 2x10s were used to build a three shelf storage and placed on the back of it. Plenty of room to work and sturdy enough to hold anything I need to do on it. then I added to brackets to the front of the top shelf and bolted up an LED work light.

Mine is just 2x's with lights overhead. Cheap and sturdy. 2 vises are mounted with nothing but structural screws and I haven't managed to break anything even doing far more brutal stuff than guns.

I have a polymer Rubbermaid cart, that I’ll try to make into a mobile work table for projects that need to be done outdoor.
no thing scarier than the wife saying “you better not be bringing anything else into the house”.
This way i can move it around the garage and hopefully not take up too much space.
