Would you do this...

Re: Would you do this...

Correct me on these prices if I am way off, but an
LTR 308 aprox $900,
10x SS scope aprox $600,
badger rings aprox $150,

I'm not even adding the base not sure which one but those parts alone total $1650, You can find MRPs for around $1550. (I just did a quick search on the prices). I would say it is a fair trade. All depends on what style shooting you want to do.

Not to far in price. I wouldn't, but then it depends on what you personally want to do with the rifle.

Ok...I'll correct you on your figures. Assume that the Remy is used in like new to excellent shape (deduct accordingly if the condition is less):

1) the LTR can be had for $800 or so;
2) NIB SS 10x scopes are only $300 direct from SWFA (used don't sell for a whole lot less, so call it $250);
3) used Leupold base for around $75;
4) used Badger rings for around $150...

That gets you to around $1300 on a good day...not $1600 (if you were to piece it together from new components/rifle...you might get close to the $1600 mark, but it isn't worth that in trade).

As for the LMT MRP CQBs...the complete rifles/carbines are fetching almost $1600 new without much divergence in the used market given the demand, plus those are mail-order prices where you'll need to add S&H, FFL fees, etc. Hell, the complete uppers are going for roughly $1200.

Re: Would you do this...

Ok, I can find several mrps for $1550 new, even as low as $1400 if you are a LEO plus "add S&H, FFL fees" (not sure why this is relevant, you would have to pay this for a 700 LTR as well). Your still not that far off in price difference. Again it all depends on what kind of shooting you would prefer to do.

Try posting this question with the bolt action guys, I'm sure that you will get different answers than from the gas guys.

Re: Would you do this...

Id do the trade for a Custom Shop LTR, otherwise I'd have to shoot it first to see what it's capable of. You are trading a moderately accurate bullet hose for a more accurate bolt gun, make sure the accurate part is there before giving up the bullet hose.

Re: Would you do this...

How much u want for the LMT?

Re: Would you do this...

How short is the barrel on the MRP. (you listed it as CQB but didn't specify what length barrel it has). If the barrel is 14.5" or less, there would be an extra $200 NFA tax stamp involved with this trade. Because you didn't mention it, I'm assuming it isn't an SBR?

Re: Would you do this...

Depends on what YOU want and need.

Also what you have into it ($$) Vs. just buying a different rig you want. Trades are a personal thing. If you strictly look at it from a money perspective it's different than if you really want something else.

This is true.

Re: Would you do this...

If you want to come out money ahead, sell the LMT for full price then knock the guy down on the Remy.

If you feel that a 7.62 AR is needed in your battery of guns, I wouldn't do anything. That would mean NO on a trade.
