Been working to consolidate a lot of my mixed brass/components over the past few months. Have most stuff sorted except my 30-06 hunting rifle which is a savage 114 american classic (nothing special and far from a precision rifle).

Right now I have about 300 pieces of RP brass. Most 1x fired by me but some through a trade. Another purchase has now netted me 100 pcs of new 30-06 lapua brass. 100 pieces doesn't seem like much but for a rifle that I put 100 rds/year through it'd probably be fine. I could always keep an eye out for another box when it's in stock.

I don't anneal currently, it's on the list but it's a ways down there and probably a year or two out.

Keep the 100 pcs of new Lapua? Or put that for sale or another trade and keep the 300 pcs of 1x RP?

For years, the only 7mmBR Brass and .221 Fireball brass was by Remington. A lot of good scores were shot with both firearms using Remington Brass. If it is a real concern, weigh and sort.

This is just my opion, and we know what that’s worth. But , in my opinion, if you are looking for cosistancy in brass, say +/-1gr, the Lapua is not much more expensive than the others, considering you may need to purchase 3 or 4 bags to get 100 pieces +/- 1gr.

For hunting, I would think the RP brass should be more than adequate unless you are really looking at long range hunting, >600yds. And a lot of it.
