Wrong decapping pin size - what to do?

So i made a bone head move and deprimed 250 pieces of lapua 6.5c brass with the wrong size decapping pin.

i've loaded and shot 30 rounds of it during load development. and still have 20 loaded rounds left of that same load development i haven't shot yet.

is it a waste of time to continue? or what should i expect when i start using brass that was deprimed correctly compared to this stuff?

I must be missing something........If you successfully removed the spent primers without any damage to the brass, why would it make any difference ? Unless the decapping pin is larger in diameter than the flash hole (?).....
 
If you did it to all your brass and the resulting primer hole is now similar in all your brass, I'd just continue on with load development and not sweat it. It's not ideal and not something I'd choose to do to the brass, but I doubt you'll be able to see the results on target.

I'd just make sure to keep those cases separate from any other brass that hasn't been altered.

thanks. i guess what I'm worried about is developing a load with this goofed up brass and for some reason that same load in future brass with un-altered flash hole being off and not shoot as well. seems unlikely, but you never know.
 
Do you have any brand new unfired brass? You may want to check and see if the pin will work without modification. I checked my Lee Universal Decapper and the pin passes through the flash hole just fine unmodified on my lot of 6br brass so you may not have messed anything up.

I don’t have any new brass unfortunately.

I already ordered a new die that comes with the smaller pins.

I think it’s fine. Just not ideal
 
I doubt you have hurt the brass, I figure many people have ran thier universal decapers
And never noticed any difference, guess you have a batch of test ammo now.
I would like to hear the results if you do a test.

Did Lapua go with the smaller flash hole for a performance gain?
Or more probably a tooling convenience of some kind?

So 1/16th 0.0625 inch as aposed to 1.5 mm .
Probably tooling driven and nothing else.

Have read on sh of people uniforming the flash holes at 0.0625 .
I do that and remove burs inside because that is the tool I have.

I ran too big a decapping pin through all my Lapua 6 Dasher brass...300+ pcs. Oops! I haven't noticed a difference.

I am now shooting 6BR too, and bought the correct die/pin for all this brass from Mighty Armory. I think it's safe to do, but if I could catch it and do it right the next time, I figured I might as well.

Yeah I think I’ll be fine. Bought a Sinclair decapping die that comes with the small diameter pins

my issue was, i just got into reloading. I had never decapped any brass before. so it wasn't until I used the proper size pin that i was like "oh, that feels more normal" a lot smoother when using the correct size pin haha. i just thought it was normal to have to be a little umph into it
