Hello Hiders,

I'm in the market for one of the above listed rifles. I have a match in three weeks and think I would enjoy the .22 precision matches.

I have been researching these rifles and believe the CZ 457 and Sako Quad would be my first choices and am pretty aware of what is listed for sale here, AR15, central rim fire, Ect.

If you have one of these rifles for sale that you have thought about selling but just haven't taken the time to list it or possibly another one that I didn't list that I have overlooked, please PM me and I will give you my phone number so we can talk.

I do have an 82G that I bought Many years ago and shot one round through it to ensure it functioned. Never installed the precision iron sights that came with the rifle. It has been in the back of my safe since. I have all the original paperwork, sights, inserts Ect. As I remember it doesn't have the deep scratch or the rust that I have heard others talk about. Certainly can send pics. Also I recently purchased the picatinny rail for a scope and the proper picatinny to attach to the rail for a bipod. Still in packages.

Thank you,
Steve

@POGPride had a tricked out 457 precision trainer listed for sale the other day in the regular firearms for sale section. May want to see if that's still available... Sorry, looks to be sold.

Thanks POG.

Very nice and great reason to sell! I'm not there yet. Spending over a grand for a .22 is something I had to warm up to. Replicating your PRS style rifle in a .22 with take much longer for me. I have a friend who did that and there is no doubt it is the best option, I'm just not there yet.

Happy that you are doing it, everyone I talked to that has done this is very happy with it.

Just curious why not consider the Tikka T1X? Then later when you get funds, get a KRG Bravo for it if you want to have something similar as PRS.

I actually started with that thought. By the time I bought that rifle then added the same stock as the CZ455 or 457 precision trainer and trigger ect I think I would have more money into it. I could just start with the VPT. I understand the triggers on the 457's are adjustable and most people I have talked to or heard their review of the rifle don't feel that they need to upgrade the trigger, another reason for the 457.

I would be interested in hearing your thoughts.

Steve

Ah, it depends I guess on what your centerfire/prs rifle is as well. I went a Tikka T3X for my center fire, so having another short throw 70 degree Tikka T1X made sense to me. Also the inlet/actions are super similar so I could easily replicate the mechanics on both rifles, same buttpads, same bipods, etc. LoP, comp height, everything is identical.

I still have my Tikka T1X stock trigger. I put a $10 spring in it, and it is a very, very crisp, zero pre and zero over travel, 1 lb drop safe trigger. I'm very happy with it. T3X triggers work in the T1X, they're interchangeable, so if I wanted to go 2-stage I could mirror 2-stage on both rifles.

So I run a T3X in a Bravo, and a T1X in a Bravo. If you are already running a Manners stock for your PRS rig, then the CZ 457 trainer probably would fit your trainer / ergos. I think pricing wise, if you bought a T1X + $550 for the manners stock, it's basically the same price as the 457 trainer.

I like the adjustable comb, so I went with a Bravo... and Bravo is a good deal cheaper, with expandability for arca rail, m-lok slots for slings, etc. Fantastic NRL22 rig. I only wish they sold the 16" model in the US. (Going to order in a 16.5" lilja barrel in the upcoming months I think).

Very nice! Looks great! I'd be proud to have that. What groups are you seeing and what ammo does it like?

How much is the Bravo stock for the Tikka?

I am shooting an AI, so I'm really not trying to mirror my center fire rifle exactly, that would be more money than I would want to spend... Im trying to stay around $1500 for a above mentioned .22 with a good trigger, and stock used, or I will buy a new 457 VPT THEN add the base, scope and rings, so still a lot in the end.

I might start out cheap, I have a 10/77 that is internally suppressed and is pretty accurate, factory stock. Might buy a new stock for it and try a bunch of different ammo, see if I can get an acceptable group.

The KRG Bravo I bought new for $389. I've seen people sell them used for around $300, but it's pretty rare to find a used T1X Bravo, but I have seen a few come up in the PX. Overall cost for the setup was -

$425 for the T1X (10% off Cabelas)
$389 for the Bravo
$40 for the 25 moa DIP rail.
$90 for the Seekins 1" rings (used PX)
$950 for the Ares ETR
$85 for the Sterk Swept Back Handle
$10 for the trigger spring. (Out of the box it's adjustable to a crisp 2lb, but if you want it 1lb, you'll get the lighter trigger spring).

For groups wise, it shoots sub moa with match ammo. This is my 6x5 @ 100 yards -

For value ammo, say SK+ I'm shooting about .9-1" avg across a 6x5 groups. My lot of CCI SV is pretty crappy where I'll have some random SD and a low shot. Lapua Pistol King, same .9 ish avg. I haven't really found anything it hated, the pricier the ammo, the better the results... CCI ~ 1.2-1.3", SK+ 1-1.1" avg across like 1000 rounds, Lapua Pistol King .9", Eley Tenex/Match .7"

I have a ways to go on getting better at shooting, I think I can tighten up the groups. I've had a few groups with match ammo where 4 in a clover, and 1 fuckup.

If you're just looking for fun on a NRL22 match, the best value I've seen right now is the Ruger 10/22 Competition @ $650 street price. Comes with 30moa rail integrated. The trigger kind of sucks, needs the $90 Brimstone job on it to get it to the 1.5 lb crispness, make it about $750 all done. Has a very nice match barrel, I've put a few sub 1/2 moa groups @ 100 with it, even with the crappy trigger.

Thanks LP.

Very nice groups.

So really there isn't much difference in final cost whether you start with the CZ or Tikka...

I saw the sale that Tikka had and called about the details, no T1X's only the 3's...

I will expand my search to used Tikkas..

Thanks for the help.

I had a friend who ended up building a 10/22 clone with the Brownells action. It all comes down to what you are trying to do. If you want an excellent all around rifle, take a look at the CZ457 AT-ONE edition. You can get it with two different barrel lengths and it already has a ton of adjustment so you don't have to buy a new chassis/stock unless you want to. My wife shoots one and loves it. She likes how she only had to add a rail and was ready to go. You don't even have to add the rail unless you want to shoot longer distances.
