Technically it is a modified Taco hold. Originated by IHMSA standing shooters using very high scope mounts. It is said to be very stable, but I never tried it, thinking shooting Creedmoor or Dead Frog were both pretty far fetched. (I still shoot Creedmoor).

This hold can also be used without a scope, having the hand holding the end of the barrel over a hooded front sight. its all a ”gaming” way of shooting, not really useful in field practice. However, it really helps controlling recoil, allowing the shooter to use a rifle scope with very little eye relief.

    ^^That shooting bench looks backwards^^
Nothing is straight forward in IHMSA. Probably turned backwards so they can shoot Creedmoor off of it. We built tables on top of some of our shooting benches at the Dugdemona range because some of the targets could not be seen shooting off of a ground bench. The late Jenny West is seen sitting on the bench as we wait for the target setters to finish their work. Jenny was a wonderful lady who met with a very tragic end of her life at a much to young of an age. Jenny was one of the very best handgun marksman/woman who ever lived. I, at a younger and heavier self, and Jenny are both smiling as we both shot perfect 40x40’s that day.

(picture quality is poor due to being a picture of a printed picture; please excuse)
