Again, grief. Don't pretend to know how you will respond if you put yours in the ground early. Nobody in that state of mind is rational. Some handle it better than others, but i'm not going to hold that over her. Takes a bit of empathy to understand that. Sometimes you just have to walk away and thank god you're not in her shoes, because as good as your kids are, or you think they are, they could easily fuck up once and meet the same end. It's not the same these days. These kids didn't say, "Hey, let's do some fentanyl today". They did make an idiotic choice (most kids do), and they paid for it. I'm not so holier than though that i think all kids who pop a pill are junkies, although I'd hope there are less these days because of the increased prevalence of fentanyl laced drugs.
I get that a couple in here were gigantic nerds in high school and college and never got invited to parties, so not all may understand that kids popping pills every once in a while is not a new phenomenon. The increased risk of fatal consequences are.
So we are both clear, we agree on everything other than our reactions to a grieving mother.
