I am thinking of converting my SA Rem 700 to 300 wsm and noticed that the Wyatt modification offers .11" of additional mag length. Is it worth the modification?

I know 300wsm really comes alive in a long action but I already have this rifle which NEVER gets shot. I have to source a magnum bolt as well but it seems like an easy project.

I have a few so the simple answer is yes but there are several additional considerations.

The first is your chamber. Is it throated to accept the longer COAL? If not, that can be fixed without much difficulty.

A few of mine are limited in COAL not by the Wyatt box but by the chamber. I concluded it was not worth re-cutting the chamber.

Shorter COAL means more pressure. With the bullet I was shooting, longer COAL required more powder but the accuracy node was the same velocity as the shorter COAL so no gain.

Let us know how it works out.
