XLR Envy Pro JV kit

Haven’t really liked or disliked XLR in the past.

But I got to mess around with the full JV comp package (full interior and exterior weights and nvg hood). It’s pretty damn nice.

Ordered one for a lone peak I have being spun up.

I really like the scallops in the exterior weights and in the nvg rail for driving the rifle with support hand.

They seem like nice chassis, and some good kit with that JV package.

Honestly, never seemed compelling enough for me to buy one, but I'm hardly a gear whore these days. I'm happy with the JAE chassis' I have and can't see myself changing those out in the near future.

I certainly wouldn't fault someone for buying the XLR chassis, never saw much of them in the south. Seems to have some nice features though.

Same. I was pretty neutral on them and didn’t pay much attention. Until I saw the new features released.

Funny how you don't seem to see much of them outside the PNW.

I also see some AI 2.0’s and MPA’s.

I've had one of their evolution chassis for years, since they first came out actually. They're good peeps, and used to offer free inletting if they didn't offer that footprint. Not sure if they've since done away with that, but I know for awhile they were the only option for a lot of obscure inlets.

Just got it all sorted out yesterday. Will have a better opinion on it later this week. Still waiting for nvg hood, but that’s not a big deal.

I have 4 envy's, 3 are the first version that came out and the newest being the jv pro. I'm loving the upgrades. The nv hood and scalloped weights really give you lots of surface area to get ahold of to manipulate the rifle.

Agreed, I can grab the bag and the rifle at the first scallop closes to me and it feels very solid.

Just put the vertical grip on. It’s 100x better for my hand. I have short fingers though. It’s comfortable floating or wrapping thumb. I do both depending on the situation/position.

Only small note, you’ll have to cut down the screw that comes with the angled grip, or take an action screw and cut down. The screw that came with the regular ergo deluxe with the chassis was too long for the straight.

I have the thumb rest already and have it set almost all the way to the rear.

I have the vertical grip on one of my XLR’s
I like it but I’m going to sand the palm swells down flat at some point.

Its very similar to an impact. Just without the trigger hanger.

I’ll have a terminus Zeus later this week. But that’s going to feel totally different.

XLR says 64oz (4lbs) ish depending on inlet and such.

4lb should be close. With all external, internal, buffer tube, buttstock, and arca extension weights, I’m at about 10lbs.

nice thanks! Seems like a good all around chassis to strip down for field matches or load up for PRS matches.

I was never really an XLR fan. But they have evolved into a really good chassis option.

same here. I’m still not a fan of the rear end esthetically, but functionally the chassis seems to have a lot going for it.

I’m warming up the the way the buttstock looks, but still not a fan. It is very comfortable though.

I think the only thing missing now is a tool less buttstock.

I ordered the kit, plus a folder, bag rider, & shorter buf tube. Excited to try it, sad the lead time is 8 weeks.

It’ll be worth the wait time. The new Envy Pro is bad to the bone. Their new Element 3.0 is really nice too...especially with the magnesium option if looking for a really light weight hunting set up.

my first chassis was the XLR element. i was all about it for awhile - awesome people at XLR too.

now i can't get passed the buffer-tube style butt stocks. just throws off the good looks of the rest of the chassis.

the new features look pretty sweet though. I'm still hooked on the more traditional style (hence my Foundation). but a lot of sweet things coming from these chassis companies.

My rifles with XLR’s maybe aren’t the easiest to adjust or are the star of a photo shoot but they’re comfy, trouble free and have excellent customer support.

When I took off the tube (even after taking out the set screw), it needed heat and a pipe wrench to break it free.

I’m assuming more heat would have made it easier. But it was so tight that the Allen slot end the end of the tube stripped immediately.

I’d imagine XLR has some sort of suggestions for removing the tube, but I couldn’t find them.

I also had a long ass sliver of aluminum peel right out of the set screw hole when I unscrewed its. It’s fine overall and works, but I ordered another tube from XLR.

Didn’t care for the acc grip or tiny mag release. So I didn’t check it out any further.

99% of my chassis preferences revolve around the firing hand. If that doesn’t fit me right out the gate, I don’t even bother to go further.

The thing I like most with the ACC is that the cheek piece has lateral adjustment where the xlr is fixed on the buffer tube. You can move it up and down, forward and backwards yes, but not left or right. When shooting with ear muffs its nice being able to slide my head slightly to the side while keeping vertical without forcing my ear muffs up instead of having to rotate it around over top of the stock.
The xlr is still really comfy though, I like the element a whole lot.

I agree if there is a “weak” spot in XLR, it’s the butt stock. Having seen how they evolved the front end, I wouldn’t be surprised to see an upgraded buttstock sometimes soon.

I fixed that by making a cheek piece with a profile like a JAE.
It’s narrow enough that I didn’t need a L-R slider.

I don’t mind the no Quick adjustments.
I got set for me, if someone wants to shoot my rifle and it doesn’t fit them perfectly they can eat shit cuz I’m not messing with my perfect settings.

Only played with it on the dryfire range but so far I like it. Definitely adds some heft.

So, I beat my rifle around for about 3 weeks and the zero never moved. Never had to touch the turrets as far as zero.

I took the scope off, took brake off, took the barreled action out to soak/clean it. Bolted it all back together and below is a pic of the first 3 shots after bolting it all back up.
