I need to buy a scope for my new Remington AAC build. I have been looking at the Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x50 in either the Mildot or the Z1000 reticle. Primary use for this rifle will be deer and pig hunting, with shot opportunities from 100yards to 800yds here in the West Texas Panhandle. I have $1000.00 dollars set aside for the optic. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cameraland Optics, a Site supporter here, was offering some good discounted Zeiss models recently, check them out before you buy.

The Conquests have great glass, but utilize a 1" tube, so available
elevation is less than other comparable scopes using a larger
main tube.

The conquest is a great scope, though it does have a short-coming. The limited amount of adjustment in the turrets.
Have you looked into the Vortex PST? Within your price range with more options as far as reticles and adjustments.

Re: Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x50 Mildot

I have a 20 MOA base installed on the rifle to help with elevation adjustment. I have looked at the Vortex PST 4-16x50 FFP but it only comes in the EBR 1 reticle which I know nothing about. Any info on how the EBR works and is it better to get Mrad or the MOA.

Re: Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x50 Mildot

It's as simple as this- get a scope that has turrets that match the reticle. That's not an option with the Conquest.
Most here on the Hide will go with the mil/mil set-up over the MOA. Honestly, I would say go with what you're more familiar with.
The EBR-1 reticle is a good one in that it is not cluttered, simple, and has half-mil lines that would help with hold-overs, ranging, etc..
I dont have one personally, but I have spent some time with a couple. In my opinion, the glass could be better in the Zeiss- of the 2 PSTs I've used, one had great glass while the other wasn't so great. If I recall, they come with rings and a sun shade which could help make a decision.

Edited to add that I have owned 4 Conquests with still having one of those. I am a fan of Zeiss products, but I wish they offered more options.
Maybe some guys that have the PSTs will chime in??
