Rifle Scopes Zeiss Diavari

Does anyone have any experience with the Diavari FL T? My main purpose is light gathering. Can’t afford a Polar or Ultra Bright from S&B. (Refuse to pay for Schmidt’s new prices . So Im either going to get a Swaro Z6i or Z8i, Meopta R2, or Leica Magnus. On my search, I’ve come across the Diavari. I called Zeiss and they basically said it’s to date their brightest scope. Although the Victory HT is suppose to be, they said it’s not. And that the Diavari was on a different level. An in house build, and built to a level considerably higher than their currant offerings.
Anyone have experience with them? Is the Magnus, HT, Swaro or Meopta better with low light?

I don’t know much about the S&B zenith line but eurooptic is running some good prices on them currently.

If you can get it for a reasonable price, and you don’t care for all the modern tacticoolsauceshit, but just want a fantastic hunting scope with top tier light gathering glass, well, then the FL is a great choice.

It’s new, but also at $2k so not sure if that’s reasonable for that scope.

I’m assuming you are referring to their 4-16x50 FL T* that they made back about 10 - 12 years ago?
I had one, along with a few other Diavari scopes in other magnifications. Simple reticle, mine was a #20, and exposed turret.
Sold it to buy some thing else with a lit reticle. It was very good in low light, only bested by my older 3-12x56 VMV T*.
Back in that time, the 4-16x50 sold new for @ $1900, used samples were $1300-$1400.

I have no hands-on experience with the other scopes you are considering.

If it’s local, give it a good look with your own eyes, and see if the glass suits your eyes.
I still remember the first time I looked through a Hensoldt 6-24x72 - to my eyes, the glass was out of this world.

Had the same sensation with Kahles. But that’s just my eyes.
My friend swears to Swarovski, another loves his Zeiss.

This one is the 6-24x56 FL T. Illumination, Rapid Z varmint, etc.
They want $2000 for it. It’s brand new. I think it used to sell for about $2700. If there was something out there that had better low light at $2000 that I would get it.

Tang’s post reminded me of my 3-12 Hensoldt…that is the scope I bought when I sold the Diavari. Both scopes eyepiece were similar and getting behind them was easy and the both “popped” for me. Excellent view and super forgiving eye box.

The FL is a nice scope but it’s old …. Technology marches on. I wouldn’t pay more than $1200 for it if I was interested in it.

Depends what you want. If I were hunting a last light scope, I’d be looking at the 3-12 or 4-16 magnification range with a 50+ objective.
The SB Polar is supposedly the King in low light at the moment. I’ve not seen one. Others here have and may chime in.

Well that answers that. Guess I’ll look elsewhere. It was really hoping the Diavari was it.

I used to sell Swaro, Zeiss, and Kahles scopes many years ago... I personally own Zeiss and Kahles. Nothing against Swaro, but I felt their stuff was overhyped and overpriced compared to the other 2 brands...Especially when I found them all to be about equal in glass quality. The Swaro just wasn't worth hundreds of dollars more for the same thing, because of the name on it.
