I ran this past my Zeiss tech rep......
Those HT’s and Diavari’s were amazing units for sure. Crazy bright glass, excellent imagery and very rugged. However, they are both discontinued so I’d probably shy away from getting a unit we no longer make.
If I was to lay out a comparable option, my first choice would be the new V8 NA – Insanely bright optic. 92% full pass-through light transmission, our absolute best FL Glass and coatings, 30mm tube for the 2.8-20 and 34 mm tube for the 4.8-35, VERY generous eye box, 2 options for reticles, both feature daytime illumination with a very fine dot in the middle (the dot is the size of a .22 hole at 100yds)
For sure this would be my GO-TO piece to compare with the Diavari or HT. It is the absolute Alpha-Class hunting scope in North America.
If the V8 isn’t an option then for sure the V6 would be the next best thing. – Still 100% made in Germany like the V8’s, an exemplary image with 92% light transmission (Schott Glass like the V8), several great options for reticles, and scope powers and a touch lighter in weight. A most excellent second choice for sure. You can cut the budget a tic and still get a very similar performance to the V8
