Rifle Scopes Zeiss LRP S5 illumination knob

Got the Zeiss LRP S5 delivered. I was messing with the illumination knob and it popped off.

I put it back and turned the knob clockwise and then it didn’t pop off but turn it anti clockwise and then if I pull it … pops off. Forgive me if this is stupid but I couldn’t find any videos and rushed here to confirm that it’s supposed to do that.
