Fedex just dropped off a pair of Zeiss Victory Bino RF's. I just pulled them out, and the optics are superb. I'll test them furhter at dusk. Probably will try to compare them to my S&B 4-16x50mm and an older pair of Pentax DCF SP 8x43s. Not completely apples to apples, but some decent references. It's a very bright and sunny day here in NW New Mexico (85-90 degrees, UV index=10 and a light mirage) and I'm getting ranges out to 1570 yards. We'll see if that increases as things cool off and dim down later on today. The unit is very fast. LED slightly dim in the brightest/lightest of backgrounds, but I'm also left-eyed dominant and the display is generated in the right lens. While my eyes do superimpose the LED, I find that if I shut my left eye I can see it better on the tough backgrounds. I'm surrounded by dirt and sandstone. The trees along the river give a darker background. The LED aimpoint is a circle about the size of Leica's aimpoint, much smaller than the Swaro. It does have the elementary ballistic software in it, but I ignore it. Overall, no complaints, definitely workable.
As far as ergonomics go, they sit in the hands nicely, and are very well armored with rubber. I believe they use a magnesium body, and come in at 35oz. The eyecups have a a good 1/2" to 5/8" of adjustment.
Wanted to give a big thanks to Doug and Niel at CameralandNY for taking care of me as a Hide member on this purchase. Great people and smooth transaction.
