The NRA and Failed Amway Salespeople

Does anyone remember when the NRA decided to launch a social media campaign to stop looking like ignorant dickheads?

Colin Noir, good YT content, black rifles etc etc.

It's like they abandoned all of that shit and found some life insurance/timeshare/amway fuckjobs and let them take over totally.

"For just $500, Wayne Lapierre will suck your dick (digitally) and something something...you will get a cast zinc "MEDAL OF FREEDOM" and something something free gym bag....GUN CONTROL!"

Just say it, NRA. "WE NEED TO DEFEAT THESE INVOICES FOR WAGYU BEEF AND SWIMMING POOLS! YOUR MONEY IS THE ONLY THING STANDING BETWEEN US AND FLYING COACH!"

Barreled action NFA question

I want a bolt action .22 pistol that fits a r700 chassis like a pork sword. I don’t want to spend V-22 money ( I already have one).and I had the following idea.
If I were to buy a new Bergara b14r barreled action would I be able to list it as a pistol at the time of transfer ? With it already having a barrel over 16in I wasn’t sure if I could.
I have a chassis already so at $700 for a barreled action this would be awesome as I can cut and thread the barrel myself

457 MTR vs 1710 23" vs Vudoo

Currently have an MPA'ed 455 18.5" , my wife has a bergara m14 mpa chassis and likely going to rebarrel that one. I am considering an MTR 457 since i have 8 magazines already, 3 beregra magazines, or a 1710 HB with a 23". I want it for prone and multiple position but not really into a single shot BR type at all. I know I am comparing rifles almost 2000-3000+$ apart..

I have a spare MPA matrix chassis but starting to like the idea of something like the GRS or Manners or foundation stocks to change it up. I dont want any more carbon barrels. I have a nice one on my PRC im happy with but staying away on 22 now. I also dont really care about 700 foot print. Id rather something I dont have to mess with much out of the box.

I guess my questions are knowing the cz will be at bottom of the trigger comparison

How does a cz457 MTR compare to a 1710 HB 23"? besides fit an finish is the rest absolutely night and day?
How does a Vudoo with the 22-23" barrel I probably cant get for 6 + months compare to a as delivered 1710 HB?

sorry if this is really 'out there' question wise.

Mk27 Mod 1

I know this isn't a sniper rifle and I know it's not vintage, but this has always been the section to share and discuss rare and interesting firearms that wouldn't generate very much discussion in their usual sections. Due to it's rarity and historical interest, I've decided to post this pistol here.

I recently purchased a legit Mk27 Mod 1 and I already had the correct Trijicon SU-291 on hand. I've never seen another Mk27 with SU-291 in private hands, so this could be the very first civilian set-up like this with the real optic! The pistol also has the correct military UID laser engraving on the underside of the trigger guard. The box has the correct model number and a blue label. It needs taller sights, so that's the next step (please let me know if you have any suggestions).

I'm still looking for a Glock Mk27 Mod 2 and I'd be willing to pay quite a bit to get one! I have another SU-291, so I'm halfway there already, lol.

Here's photos of my 2 NSN marked RMR's (SU-291/PVS). They're pretty rare, I've only seen a few others. They came in military packaging and the instruction manual even show that these have an NSN number laser engraved.

Here's a legit military Mk27 Mod 1:

Here's a few pics of the Mk27 Mod 2, the only difference between the Mod 2 and Mod 1 is the threaded barrel. You can also see the engraved NSN number on the RMR, this is the main feature that separates it from the commercial ones.

Disappointed No More in my Vudoo V22 Sinister

I have about 1200 rounds through my Vudoo now and things are getting much better. The ammo it seems to like best is my lot of SK standard plus. It has shot better than center x, Midas+, Tennex, Eley black box match. This morning I was able to shoot a 246 12x on a USBR 50 target in mild 3-6 mph wind. At 100 it was grouping at less than an 1 MOA. This rifle is impressive. It is now shooting better than my Winchester 52d. VGW was very helpful in walking me back off the ledge with their great advice. Thank you Greg. I'm glad my Vudoo has a beer taste for ammo instead of the champagne 😉.

NX8 1-8 vs Gen3 Rzr 1-10

I have a Gen 3 1-10 and it’s a decent scope, but the reticle leaves me cold. I much prefer the reticle in the NX8 (I’m an MOA shooter) as well as the weight but I have some concerns about getting behind the scope in odd positions.

May be a moot point as I will most likely run a mini red dot as a primary, but I am looking for first hand experience from anyone who may have or has used both scopes. How do they stack up (can be mil, they’ll compare the same)

Is your impression of the NX8 is that it’s built for the field or is this a 3 gun scope.

I don’t sell shit, so the vortex will have a home on something but I am trying to decide if I want to go ACOG w/red dot or try the 1-8 NX8. Guess just about anything will be easy to get behind compared to an ACOG but here we are.

Firearms Curtis, 3 barrels $2000

I have a curtis vector with 3 barrels looking for a new home.

What you get....

- 1 curtis vector action
- 1 heavy palma 7.5t Bart 6br ( just over 700 rounds)
-1 heavy palma 7.5t hawk 6 br ( just over 600 rounds)
- 1 Bart 7.5t 6xc ( just over 400 rounds)

Both 6 br barrels were done by short action custom and the 6 xc was done by bugholes. The br barrel are shouldered to this action and the 6xc has a bug nut.

All 3 barrels hammer. Just went a different route

Optics Vortex Razor Gen II 4.5-27 EBR-7c mil SOLD

Up for sale is a gently used Vortex Razor 4.5-27 with the EBR-7c mil reticle. This was on my son’s rifle, and he took it down to Rifles Only with me for training when new, but he hasn’t really shot it since. He’s 16, so other things are more important now.

I’ll let the optic go for SOLD without the mount. Mount is now sold.

I am also going to list the chassis in another thread, but if anyone wants that, I’ll let it go for $800. Near perfect condition bronze MPA BA competition chassis. Bipod and barreled action are not available at this time.

Any veterinarians? Snake bit dog.

3BAF426A-7607-41E2-87C6-66C3976A900E.jpeg
6 month old setter apparently just got bit on the lower jaw. Didn’t see culprit but 8/10 it’s a copperhead around here. She vomited and laid down for a couple minutes. Now mostly just shaking her head but is drinking. Airway is fine for the moment. She’s had a mg per pound of Benadryl. What should I do? I’ve had dogs get bit before but only on the leg. She’s very petite, like 30-35 lbs.

6.5 PRC, Short vs Long Action

Hey everyone!

I've officially begun building my 6.5 prc hunting rifle, so thank you all for helping me pick a cartridge.

I've gone with a 24" Shilen Heavy Sporter in 6.5 prc, and it will be going on a bighorn origin action in a KRG Bravo stock. I'll be stealing the pst 5-25 from my Bergara for this rifle. Just got some Lapua brass as well.

My next decision to make is what length action to run. I currently have a 6.5 creedmoor/ short action bighorn/KRG bravo rifle that I love. If funds allow, I would like to purchase a dedicated action for the 6.5 prc barrel. Worst case I put the barrel on the creedmoor action for one season and buy the dedicated action next season, but ideally it becomes its own dedicated rifle.

I am split between going with a short action or long action. I will be handloading for this rifle and hope to run the berger EOL. Short action is always appealing because it's what the cartridge was designed for, but I would like the opportunity to run long COAL, and also potentially run long action cartridges if I ever choose. I also would like to build a .300 prc soon, and know that another optic, action, and stock are not in the financial cards, but if I could borrow all of that from the hunting rifle...I could swap my magnum barrels out between 6.5 prc and 300 prc.

I am clearly leaning towards building on a long action, but would like some input.

I know medium actions exist, but I don't like how limited the stock options are(also KRG ergo fanboy).

Has anyone run a short action cartridges in a long action, and how did it work? Has anyone run a SAUM/WSM in a long action, and mags did you use?

Thank you all!

Cold Bore Accuracy

I’m looking for some help with an issue that I’m seeing with my 300WM rifle. This issue is repeatable, I just can’t figure out why. When I take the rifle out, my cold bore shot will always be .75 MOA high and the second follow up shot with be .5 MOA low. All following shots will stack up on top of one another right on the point of aim.

I do hand load my rounds, using a Hornady 225gr ELD-M bullet and all my dies are match grade even including the seating stem that is specific for this bullet. I weigh out each load and even check my concentric of each round.

I have just replaced the barrel with a new Preferred Barrel Blanks 27” barrel with a 1:8 twist. I feel pretty confident that the twist is more than enough to stabilize this round. I only have 74 rounds through this barrel, but don’t see the problem getting any better.

Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.
