I upgraded to the Kestrel timer when my 10+ year old PACT timer finally died. I am very happy with it especially the water resistance. I was shooting with a group from my church yesterday running pistop drills when it started to rain lightly. We ran 2 more sets before packing up. I had no worries about the timer getting wet from the light rain. We now have 2 Kestrel timers at work after my buddy who runs the range was shooting with me an played around with my Kestrel. If you take one of their free online classes they usually give you a 1 time coupon for 10% off anything from the website. I had signed up for the advanced Kestral weather meter course after upgrading my sportsman to the elite software. About 2 hours before the class they had to cancel it so everyone got a 20% off coupon which I used to buy my timer with.

I understand that Berger 180s are the go to bullets for 7PRCW. However Hornady ELDM 180s and ATIP 190s have superb BC-s and should be as good or even better? Even if the ELDM 180 might not be as consistent as the Berger 180, ATIP-s should be top of the line and just as good if not better in consistency? Has anyone done extensive side by side comparisons?

Why is the Berger 180s "the" bullet choice for 7PRCW? Or have I misread the forums.

I use these with a label showing the specific caliber. Each case gets a jag, brush, and mop. I will change the tape cartidge in the label maker to different colors, white on black for rifles and black on white for pistols. I will do the same with the bulk brushes. They stay in the original bag with a table.

My last one was less than 48 hrs from certifying. Took longer to do the form 3 and get it shipped to my local dealer.

You guys are definitely convincing me to make sure not to update my software. I'm looking to keep the 1k+ round streak alive of never having the Garmin fail to capture a rifle shot. It has even done well enough with pistol rounds given that I never have it positioned within it's recommended alignment window when using it on handgun as the little shelf at all the pistol ranges is well below bore level.

I wonder what they changed to cause this issue with dropped shots? Did they change something in the units determination of whether a shot is from the intended shooter or an adjacent lane? I don't think those settings needed to be messed with. I have had a lot range sessions with dudes shooting in adjacent lanes and have not had any of their shots mistakenly read as one of mine.

Based on how I have used laser rangefinders in conjunction with BaseMap before, I believe you would be placing the point while in the BaseMap app and not from within the VECSS app. With the premium versions of BaseMap, there is a remote marker option under the tools section that what you would open to place a remote point within the BaseMap app. I expect this is similar to how things work with OnX, though I have not used it. Google maps is integrated into the VECSS application so you can actually place a point using Google maps without ever leaving the VECSS app as it is essentially using Google maps as a plugin. I don't belive this sort of functionality is present with the other mapping applications.

Yeah, I think it’s a psychological thing that happens when I’m on the clock. Lol. In reality the returns aren’t that bad.

I ran these at the Blue Mountain NRL Hunter match in Oregon a few weeks ago and had no problems. We had some light rain / mist and fog in the mornings. No problems out to 900 ish yards. The DOPE provided through the onboard AB was spot on throughout both days with varying temps and weather conditions.

The glass is second to none and a pleasure to use for days on end. The LRF works well in real world conditions where light fog, precipitation and air particulate are a real thing. I’ve had better returns in ranges with these in poor conditions than by partners who run Kilos and El Ranges. Definitely a pricy tool but worth it if you spend a lot of time on glass and need a reliable LRF / ballistic tool.

Faster readout speed is always nice, but I have to admit it has not given me any issues. It takes me a little time to pick up the landmarks, so readout speed has not been an issue.

It is supposed to snow at the hunter match this coming weekend, which should be a good test of inclement weather.
